the entire north shore hasnt been lost, but a hell of a lot of fans were lost to the game as seious followers when the bears were punted.

That's exactly right. And I think that very well sums up the majority of opinions who've replied to this thread. The last thing we need is to lose more fans.

No, I'd still watch the other teams go around, but it would be just an intellectual involvement with no real emotional connection.

dumping the code if your team went bust would be like swearing off women if your girlfriend dumped you

if you then started following AFL it would be like switching to homosexuality

I'd consider doing just that if I got dumped by Jennifer Hawkins and the only women left were Germaine Greer!

As for me, I'm only a fan of the Sharks if they disappear (a very distinct possibility given the current climate) I wouldn't follow the code anymore.

Dump the code, no
dump the NRL, yes
i haven't watched NRL this century, it won't happen until a team called the bears plays in the NRL again.

I find it interesting that the most vocally opposed supporters are mostly Sydney Club Supporters.
I understand the passion for a club, however the simple black and white fact is; there are too many clubs in Sydney and too many of those Sydney clubs aren't offering anything (in terms of profit) to the game.
Sorry to say, but RL can't grow in Australia until the NRL makes that hard call, that they should have made 5 years ago.

I think about about dumping the Tigers every time I see the all black or all white strip.

Fu@#$cking Western Suburbs maggots! When will they learn? NO ONE WANTS TO BE A LOSER LIKE THEM!

FMD. Do you need a marketing degree to work out Wests sucked?

Why should Sydney clubs be responsible or turning a profit for Rupert?

Your mother should have made the hard call 5 years ago - to abort you!

That's probably because over half the clubs in the NRL are BASED in Sydney. It's fools like you who make statements, yet don't understand the financials of the game itself, make idiots out of themselves.

Yoy want to talk about black and white. Well in black in white the game revolves around NSW and QLD, dumping teams in these areas for a side in Adelaide or Perth makes sense in 5 + years time, but currently it would be a detriment to the game.

Perhaps we should boot the out of town teams that we allowed into our competition, the best in the world, who then turned around and thanked us by whoring themselves off to a media company and attempting to destroy all the clubs that made the competition what it is, so much so said out of town teams were desperate to join it.

Nah. I'm more of a fan of Origin footy anyway and I will still follow my favourite players even if they're at other clubs

you just mirrored exactly what i said - i am a fan (and paying member) of the south sydney rabbitohs ONLY and i enjoy watching them play rugby league - however, take away souths and bye bye league - it is our birthright to stay in the competition we helped create and like 1999 when we got kicked out, I'll just mount the colours in a glass cabinet and hang it in my bar for prosterity and give game away in the blink of an eye....if you think you will be just fine without me good for you!
Would you switch your allegiance to AFL?

My answer is no. I would still be a fan of the code if the Dogs folded.

Instead of thinking about things too much... maybe we should look at the fact as to why the entire North Shore of Sydney has been lost to Rugby Union. Do you we really want to lose more areas to other codes?
Rugby Union is real popular, it was almost beaten by the Toyota Cup on Fox Sports last week.

yeah well, I believe in the quality of the game of rugby league, so see ya pal.

We'll get on just fine without the likes of you.

You are no fan.

People in soccer, etc, may lament when their club dies, goes down the ladder, etc, but they never give up watching soccer.

You are not a fan, you're a pretender.

Bye

It's exactly this sort of mindless stupidity that enabled Murdoch to steal the game and bastardise it in the first place.

This is why the game may end up with only 6 teams - 5 in Australia and 1 in NZ - with 90% of any TV rights money going to News Limited and country/juniors fending for themselves.

You're an idiot.

Why not?
Everyone knew it was Manly - funded by the NRL and North Sydney money. Colours were the same, they were the Eagles. Even the fat turd Peters had a job there.

Let's be honest - the Neagles was just Manly dressed up a for a while to get some survival money, thanks to Arko. Why do Manly fans keep pretending otherwise. are you finally feeling ashamed because you're alive through fraud?
