I enjoyed it.
Then again NXT panders to me and my taste in wrestling.
eg
- I hate 3 hour shows, so one hour is perfect
- I find Raw gives away too many big matches with zero build, NXT builds up everything
- I find the talent really stale, NXT is constantly cycling through talent, a lot of it is brand new
- I'm not a fan of having 12 PPVs a year, NXT had like 5 shows
etc etc.
I was really worried that the opener was going to be terribly over-booked. They teased all these really crappy finishes right as it ended on the best note possible. The right girl went over, but Emma has really boosted her stock and looks smokin'
- Zoned out of the tag match at times, but they got me with the finish and I felt devastated when Enzo/Cass didn't win. It's the right decision though and should make the Gable/Jordan win that much sweeter.
- Corbin/Crews was better than expected. A solid mid-card match with the right guy going over in the short-term. Corbin has come a long way in a year's time.
- Bayley/Jax was a great example of Bayley's versatility. She worked a completely different style of match and tied it altogether with a great finish. Jax is still very green and I don't think all the pieces are together yet, but she did her job here.
- Finn/Joe was an acceptable main event. Unfortunately I got more out of Joe/Ciampa than I did out of this match. There's just something extremely plain about Finn. It's like he takes the best spots from better workers and comes off looking like a weak imitation. Outside of the cool entrances, I don't see him as anything more than just a solid hand. But again, it was acceptable and I loved the fact that they didn't just kick out of each other's finishers at the death. Outside of Joe kicking out of one foot-stomp, which made perfect sense given he's a monster, they protected their moves quite well. Unfortunately I still haven't seen Balor reach 4th gear yet.
