The way they hyped it up, I was expecting something more dramatic as the Fast Lane main event.

Triple threat match will be a lot of fun, but wasn't a particularly mind-blowing call.

Wasn't it just a couple of weeks ago where Steph said that after he loses his belt he's not getting another shot?

Aside from that, this is what I would have gone for as the WM main event. With a proper 2 month build up and Heyman on the mic there really could have been some fun interactions and seeds planted to carry them into WM.

Instead, we have a triple threat where we know Lesnar will get taken down by the Wyatt's, we know Ambrose will likely play bridesmaid yet again, and Reigns will go onto WM to face HHH.

I, for one, am excited for Roman Reigns to headline another Wrestlemania.

Said nobody not directly related to Roman Reigns.

The Rock / New Day angle went well until they decided to put The Usos into it. Obviously WWE didn't learn what happened the last time they used The Rock to get one of his cousins over.

Are the Usos always getting Reigns/X-Pac/Cena heat? Or is it just because people don't want to boo the New Day or cheer anybody attacking them?

The Uso's literally do the same thing ever week and are bland as hell. The New Day are funny and entertaining every week so people are happy when they see them.

The New Day need new challengers. I'd maybe have them turn face and take on Harper & Rowan. But this is the WWE so they'll just feud against the Usos, Dudleyz and Swagger & Henry
Hopefully they call up Enzo & Cass soon cos the Tag Team division looks SAWFT.

I would have put him with the top workhorses in the company, but I get it. Nakamura needs to adapt to the WWE way of doing things and going through NXT will ease the transition.

Just like most jobs really.

I miss when wrestlers weren't all pigeon-holed into working a generic style. Sure, there's always been rules, but what made the Attitude Era so fascinating was watching different styles clashing and fusing.

I get the need to learn to work safely (for young wrestlers), but I hate the homogenising of workers.

Was it the styles? Or the different characters and personalities?

The in-ring product may have been the weakest part of the Attitude era. Which is why they relied heavily on outside interference to keep the fans engaged.

Character and personality are what's lacking.

There's a reason why the New Day and Ambrose are over, why Bryan got over the way he did. They weren't doing the same thing everyone else is.

There's only so many "want to be the cool guy" characters that can fit into one show. It would be nice if a heel could throw out an insult without the "too cool to be insulted" face just laughing right at him.

Then there's the generic "I'll laugh at all my own jokes" heel who then gets mad when he's insulted back.

And of course the heel champion who always gets angry/upset no matter who the title challenger is, moth after month. Did they really think they'd be defending the title against Hornswoggle every time?

A lot of this may be classic 101, but when classic 101 is over saturated it just becomes generic and repetitive.

At this point, I've just given up on diagnosing the WWE's problems because what's the point? It's like shooting fish in a barrel and it's just going to keep doing it's thing. As long as I can tune in every Rumble, Wrestlemania and the odd TV - I'm gravy.

Meanwhile NXT is my type of wrestling. Outside of the developmental nature where guys are coming and going at inopportune times, it's how I believe wrestling should be and it appeals to me as a fan.

In the main event, sure. But you had Japanese strong style, Mexican luchadores wrestling their style, world class technical grapplers, stiff hitting brawlers etc.

Everybody tends to kind of blend in these days. Even Bryan is a shadow of who he was as an indy wrestler when it comes to the variety in his moveset.

We're in agreement on NXT though. It's the closest I've found to what I'm looking for.

Which guys are you referring to exactly? For the most part, a lot of those styles really didn't get a lot of play or simply didn't last long. Even the WCW and ECW guys had to change their style to fit in.

I should clarify that I speak of the Attitude Era as a period of time, not the WWE product at the time. They never really did compete with WCW or WCW when it came to the undercard workrate.

ECW Tajiri and Masato Tanaka both spring to mind. His style might have been toned down, but still stood out as something unique.

For luchadores, Super Crazy, Juvi, Psicosis, Rey, and a bunch of lesser lights. Again, they changed their style when working with the bigger guys, but worked a totally different style of wrestling when given the chance to go against one another.

Guys like Guerrero, Storm, Malenko, Benoit etc. worked a very technical style that, aside from Bryan in occasional matches, don't come up a great deal anymore.

Every WWE match of late has felt largely the same, which his part of the reason why Lesnar is such a fun treat. He works a a brutal style that isn't so cookie cutter.

Guys like Neville, Owens, Ambrose, Cesaro, Bryan, Gabriel etc. have had their distinguishing features largely rubbed out or boiled down to a bland approximation.
