in Boston they might be indifferent but it wont change anything come Miami. the crowd there will be 110% behind the Rock. The Rock could come out and club baby seals(not really) and the Miami crowd would still be behind him. I'm hoping for a really excited crowd like Rock/Hogan, RVD/Cena Punk/Cena.

the rock we have seen the past few weeks is nothing compared to the rock of old and he clearly is out of practice. the rock made a few points like calling him Superman and stale but obviously he isn't being clear and just glazed over these issues.

I will have to watch it on Saturday to judge the promo for myself but maybe WWE really can pull off a split audience for mania.... oh wait it’s in Miami.

The Rock's style just hasn't aged well. I love his electricity and have always been a big fan (arguably my favorite of all time), but this feud just isn't littered with the classic promos I had hoped to see.

Watching the last two weeks, surely The Rock has been deliberately sh*t? I hate this trending Rock, and am going for Cena, but they only have 3 weeks to make this "the biggest match in the history of Wrestlemania; never before, never again", and neither are doing a good job of it.

I reckon Rocky needs to rip into Cena, saying he was built to succeed by the WWE. AA is the F5, the 5 Knuckle Shuffle is the Peoples Elbow, the STF is the Crippler Crossface. Even his thug gimmick was created based on what was popular at the time. The Rise Above Hate is aimed at the awkward kids and teens, and the mums whos want a safe family product. He needs to say he had to work for being regarded as the best. And that's why he hates Cena, who had it handed to him. He has been skirting around these points, Cena has seemingly been giving low blows and winning promos, and Rocky needs to just unleash. Take the PG constraints away, even though the pair of them have been breaking them the last two weeks.

But we all know Taker v HHH will steal the show. No singles match can compare to Hell in a Cell.

The Rock would come across as a hypocrite if he said he had to work his way to the top - unlike Cena who was handed everything (which isn't even true, but then again, neither is the idea that The Rock couldn't care less about the future of the WWE).

The Rock was given his opportunity because he was the son of Rocky Johnson and grandson of Peter Maivia.

Yeah, if anything, The Rock was 'given' far more than Cena. Cena's worked damned hard and has done a lot more outside of the ring in terms of charity work/PR work than anybody since Hogan. Fault the way he is booked or the way he cuts promos all you like, but you'd be hard pressed to find a single worker in the history of pro wrestling who poured as much of themselves into the good of the business.

Just to embellish my point a little more, The Rock claimed in his dvd to have a direct line to Pat Patterson when he was only a mere rookie and was able to schedule a try out that would take most years to organise. Yes, The Rock was a natural at wrestling and everybody saw it (well, except the Kliq but they were just insecure) but boy if he wasn't given some lucky breaks.

On the other hand despite some strong booking early (thanks largely to his biggest supporter - Jericho) Cena was almost s**t canned 10 years ago. That was, until he rapped backstage somewhere and Steph heard about it and made him do it again on tv.

Just an aside, but I've always been of the belief that Cena got as over as he did because of that character AND how well he was booked in 2003. Pitting him against amazing talents like the Guerreros at the start before having him go toe to toe with main event stars like Lesnar, Taker & Angle was a master stroke. He was the underdog character his 2005 persona falsely claimed. I think what really caught the fans attention was his devil may care attitude to these stars. Lesnar, Taker & Angle were always presented so supremely it made you stand up and take notice when some rookie kid was calling them out without any hint of fear.

After that year, I found his booking to be pretty dodge. 2004 was just so transparent (except for his feud against Carlito but that was just stupid) and after that he was basically given the stock standard main event run we'd seen at least 5 times before.

But back to Rock/Cena - what more can they possibly say? I think The Rock made his best points on Cena back last year and he's had to rely on stock standard put downs ever since. Cena had a bit more in reserve but he can't bury The Rock too much - it wouldn't mean much if he beat some overrated Hollywood star with a severe case of ring rust.

I'm interested to see what they'll do over the next 3 weeks but I get the feeling it's really just going to be the more of the same.

Cena also got over (mainly during his face run) by wearing the local NBA / NFL jumper of the town they were wrestling in, don't discredit how much that got him onside with fans (kinda like Mick Foley's "cheap pop").

Yeah, true. But that seems to be the way Rock has been leaning toward in these promos, that Cena somehow has it easy. If Cena then called him on it, and The Rock looked flustered, it could supposedly bring the crowd closer to the hallowed "50/50".
Thinking on it more, the Rock needs to smash someone. I have a feeling the Miz is gonna get pumped. Again. Poor Miz.

 if it was that simple anyone could get over. That was the least of it and The Rock couldn't hit him with that either. Because FINALLY THE ROCK HAS COME BACK TO....

And this whole 'The Rock is holding back' line is bogus. Tell me when has The Rock ever shined in a serious face/face stand-off before on the stick?

All he did was tell Chris Jericho he wasn't that good. :S

Fair enough it sounds like a weak response but put it in the context of the storyline (Jericho not being able to win the big one). It left everyone with the "aww, he didn't just say that!" feeling. The two of them made their case for who the better man was and left the crowd wanting to know who the better man was. If that is not shining in a serious face/face segment I certainly don't know what is.

So what do you want him to say? You've got the opposite end of the spectrum recently where he stands in Cena's face and tells him that he can rip his throat out.

I just thought it was pretty standard and I was expecting a promo where both sides were trading barbs with one another (like the current scenario) with The Rock coming out on top. It was really just The Rock telling Jericho he isn't good enough, Jericho disrespecting The Rock and copping a Rock Bottom.

I thought it was a good episode all up.

I liked the Cena rap. I was never that big a fan of the gimmick for all the reasons The Rock made but John nailed Dwayne with some beauties. And I enjoyed The Rock concert as well, a couple of classic Rock zingers and the line about Eve and Cena's wife was great.

Taker/Michaels promo was quality. I like Shawn's history as a special guest ref. was brought up and it certainly adds another dimension to a quality match.

Speaking of, I'm glad that Jericho brought up Punk's dad. The feud needed more heat than just who's the best in the world and that was the perfect ingredient.

Enjoyed the matches too, most of them were good little tv matches with Sheamus/Ziggler being the highlight. Nice to see the Funkasaurus back on TV.
