This is legit? An advertisement from Sony? This is smart by them if so, very well done.

With Sonys various releases in the past couple of days and Polls at Ign pretty much saying what most social circles are- 75% polling so far shows in favour of PS4- Sony is definately ahead on points in the pre launch marketing. It'll be interesting to see how Microsoft counters this. Can they swallow their arrogant pride and backdown a bit?

That video is amazing.

That said, I don't really have a problem with the Xbone policies. I've been transitioning to digital only PC gaming since getting a new PC. All platforms are going to run into the same problems as things go increasingly digital in coming years.

MICROSOFT will fire its latest weapon in the video game war this November, with the new Xbox One console launching in 21 countries at a price of US$499 (A$527).

In Australia, an Xbox One will leave you A$599 out of pocket.
The launch is likely to spark a head-to-head battle with main rival Sony, whose PlayStation 4 is due in stores before Christmas this year.

Its price, though yet to be confirmed, is rumoured to be up to US$150 cheaper.
Microsoft Studios head Phil Spencer announced the arrival of the powerful new Microsoft machine at the E3 Games Expo in Los Angeles in the wee hours this morning, showing off a host of blockbuster sequels and promising more first-run titles.

The company provided little detail of the console's new hardware, however.
Mr Spencer said the company had opened five new Microsoft studios in preparation for the console launch, and was "investing more than ever in games" including new franchises and "classics you've asked for".

Game demonstrations included a new Forza Motorsport 5 with McLaren vehicles, Dark Souls II, zombie-killing game Dead Rising 3, and the return of player-versus-player title Killer Instinct.

A new version of first-person, intergalactic shooter Halo with greater resolution was also promised but not demonstrated at the event.

and from the same article

But Microsoft executives provided little detail of the new Xbox One console's hardware at the E3 conference, failing to address concerns about its requirement for a persistent internet connection and concerns it could allow publishers to prevent users from reselling games.

In a recent Microsoft blog post, the company confirmed Xbox One players would be able to play games for just 24 hours before being asked to "re-establish a connection" to continue playing.

Massive change from Micro$oft, guess they really had no choice with all the negativity gaining momentum and everyone jumping on the PS4 bandwagon.

• No more always online requirement
• The console no longer has to check in every 24 hours
• All game discs will work on Xbox One as they do on Xbox 360
• Authentication is no longer necessary
• An Internet connection is only required when initially setting up the console
• All downloaded games will function the same when online or offline
• No additional restrictions on trading games or loaning discs
• Region locks have been dropped

I'll consider getting one now.

Oh well I liked the changes and was looking forward to having all my games installed and not worrying about discs anymore. But I guess I'm in the minority.

With Sony bricking PS3s with a botched system update M$ has finally fired a decent shot in the pre launch cold war.

Score is still 100-1 or so in Sony's favour.
