Your average casual gamer doesn't see it that way though. I agree with you but the casual market heavily outweighs the hardcore. Casual gamers may just walk over to the PS4
Exactly how I handled the last generation. Worked out swimmingly. Here's how this is gonna work.
I'm gonna buy the better of PS4 and Xbone within a year of release.
I'm gonna buy a WiiU as soon as as a decent Zelda or Mario is released.
And i'm gonna buy the last one when it's massively price dropped years later, for the few exclusives I missed.

Lol if anybody here wasnt already assured that we are well out of touch in this country my brother just messaged me EB Games and Harvey Norman already have Pre orders going up for the 4 and the Bone listed at $888!!!!
That's why there is such greed in the industry that f**ks the consumer at every chance possible "it doesn't affect me so I don't care" such a shit attitude towards consumer rights.
It's the anti-consumer shit that is turning me off the XONE bigtime. The PS4 being so much more powerful is simply going to make my decision easier.
I can't understand brand loyalty when the brand obviously doesn't care for the people buying it...
PS3 and 360 ended up being a wash in terms of performance. PS4 had more theoretical performance but it was hard as a bitch to program for and had to be extremely specialised development pipeline to take advantage, so only guys like Naughty Dog managed it. Rumours circulating suggest PS4's development platform is even better than MS's this time, so Sony have taken big steps forward and MS's have gone backwards. In realistic terms, PS4 had a weaker GPU and a more complicated memory architecture which meant that straight forward development methods gave the advantage to 360 most of the time.Performance does. Let's not forget that nobody really took advantage of the PS3 capabilities as it is, a lot of it to do with essentially dumbing down a game for the 360 to make them cost effective.
If PSN stays free and with a premium service as they do now I'll probably go back to Sony or if PSN does go to paid subscription as long as I have the option to play in "offline" mode without charge I'm in.
Bottom line for me is I buy a console to play video games on not to watch youtube or NFL or Netflix or any of that other crap that Microsoft have been concentrating on in recent years so my decision is down to PS4, PC or none at all.
I read that kinect always stays on even when the xbox is off, meaning unless you put something over it or unplug it there's a camera watching you while you sleep.
I also read that with that camera and Skype a friend can call you and appear on your screen while you're watching a movie or sports or possibly utilising that rare game-playing feature.
