basel are a well coached outfit, they stuck to their structures and press well as a team, the pressed us at the back where we turned it over time and time again and they distributed the ball better through the middle. we're getting beaten by basic stuff game after game.

I know Basel are recognised as a good team, but their team altogether didn't cost over 120 million, yet they made us look like Ludogoretz.

Another game goes by, and we're still yet to produce anything that is even a mere worthy impression of our performance against Spurs, which was around 5 months ago now. 5 months.

People retort that sacking Rodgers would be counter-productive because it means that we need to start with a clean slate again. But even if we do keep Rodgers, we're going to have to start with another clean slate anyway!

rodger's issue right now is that he doesn't have a plan b because he put all his eggs in one basket on plan a working. he banked on sturridge being fit and didn't foresee how much was at risk to him if sturridge got injured.

he doesn't trust ballotelli or borini to play in his setup and he refuses to change away from it because it seems that's all he knows

so in january the owners either have to back him to the tilt and buy him a striker or 2 that will re-align the 4th wheel to the cart or bring in someone else now that can deploy the current squad in a different way.

who could do that? i think rafa can!
