Some very good songs at the moment - Berlin Chair followed up by Bullet with Butterfly Wings.

Not enough baby boomers voting so Dylan won't be high.

I'm surprised Tiny Dancer made it in at 66, I love Elton's songs but its not one of his greatest, although Madman Across The Water is one of his best albums.

Pink FLoyd made it at 55 with Comfortably numb so there is still some good taste in Australia, although the blurb could at least mention how it has one of the greatest guitar solos of all time.

Nah 101st was Nirvana, In Bloom I think.
Close, it was Heart Shaped Box.

How the hell does Augie March get into the 100 and get a Number 1 in the past? It's just boring pretentious whiney boy crap.

I feel like shoving chopsticks down my ear canals to rupture my ear drums just so i don't hear them.

my 10

Tool - Sober
Radiohead - Paranoid Android
Andy Prieboy - Tomorrow Wendy
Muse - Knights Of Cydonia
Rage Against the Machine - Killing In The Name
Michael Jackson - Billy Jean
Jeff Buckley - Last Goodbye
Split Enz - I Got You
Machine Gun Fellatio - Unsent Letter
Led Zeppelin - Kashmir

was glad the voting only had a couple of days to run when jacko died otherwise i'm thinking the poll would've been full of him!

running a scoring system with a couple of mates based on our 10 songs.
5 points if a band you voted for gets in(if you picked a stones song you get 5 for every song they get)
10 points for getting one of your songs in.
10 point bonus for positions 20 -11
20 point bonus for 10 -2
50 points if you get no1.

obvious advantage to have nirvana or radiohead(they will poll well i'm thinking)

That song is there 100% because of Almost Famous. I dare say most people who voted for it probably haven't even heard the full Elton John version of the song (not saying I have either, I have no interest in Elton John, but it just has "Oooooh I remember that song from the movie, it must be a classic" written all over it)

In an ideal world Devin Townsend would fill the top 20 spots.

I agree.

I Heard that Carpathia again yesterday...I don't mind 'em at all.

i'm sure 'tomorrow wendy' finished pretty high in an early 90's hot100.there were a couple of versions, andy prieboy, and him doing it with the singer out of concrete blonde.both good versions.

Any list with Tool in it wins my vote.

could've had a list full of tool songs but had to spread the love around!

was tossing up which song to go for, 46 and 2, stinkfist, parabol/parabola, so on and so forth..

ended up with sober(i thought at least stinkfist was going to get in.we've already had 46 and 2 today.)just love the song(and clip!).

Are you on heroin?
the entire song is based around that one classic groove and the wah wah guitar riff.

In it's day it was quite ground breaking....in terms of getting that manchester sound stuff out the the rest of the world.

I may have slipped in "grooveless" deliberately as in, yes it has a "groove", but it isn't a groove for me. I'm not a big fan of the Madchester era stuff anyway, it seems like it was a thing that had to be lived, because the songs aren't holding up as well as other eras (some Happy Mondays stuff ain't too bad though)

Unsent letter is a bloody brilliant song.

It most certainly is, a testament to what happened if MGF stopped dicking around for five seconds.

It all comes down to tastes I guess.

I have vivid memories of fools gold.
i.e a mate murdered a bloke ( long story ) I went to see him just before he got put away.
He was playing that song on his guitar...it was a heavy time .
About a week later I flew to Germany ..the war in Iraq had just started and we flew over parts of the middle east .
I remember looking out the window at all that vast desert and on the in house radio was fools gold.
It was kind of ironic considering the war and all.

After Germany I went to the UK and that song was massive....not as massive as Angry Andesron's "suddenly" though".

...and yes I agree on MGF , in fact I was thinking the exact same thing .
