You know when something is brewing when a St George fan (a 30yr mad one at that) says "i think you guys are going to have a big yr, i think you guys will go close. And you have a heap of depth"..

Hope he's right, Troy. I've got a good feeling about this year. But then, I have that feeling at the start of every season, only to finish the season a shattered, trembling, weeping, shaking wreck. I hope Stuey can have me finish the season with the same demeanour that I start it. :D

Is that the average?

Nope, the average dragqueen supporter is a 77 year old grandmother who still dwells in the glory of the 1960's and consequently infects her children and her childrens children with the same retrospective outlook. :p

But in all seriousness, despite all the off field problems i think we have a good vibe around us with Raper and ET back on deck and hopefully we can take this vibe into the season and maintain it throughout.

Its back to the old days... but hopefully with one major difference at the end of the year :D

Ppl have been telling me what CA did for the club in recruitment in 2002-3...

I'll give him Vagana as a TOP recruit, I'll even grant him Noddy, Bails and Nuts...

BUT!!!! Nuts is crazy and capable of anything, Noddy has yet to prove he can play without CA and Bails is a bit the same. ALL professed their "love and devotion to CA" when the sh|t was hitting the fan last year...

BUT, the one thing that CA could NEVER EVER have brought BACK to the Club is ET. This will be the major coop for SR and us in general. Also the "SHIRE CULTURE" will be back... not some "day dream" of a "has been"!!

Yeah, leads the way to Moore Park and the Judiciary.

He's a poorly disciplined thug, and while I appreciate the need for agression, Nutley has very little self control. If he wants to be regarded as one of the better forwards playing the game, he needs to find some self control. SOON.

I hold Noddy and Bails in MUCH higher regard than I hold Nutley.

Nutley is not a 'thug'. I wouldn't even say that he is "poorly disciplined." He is a loyal, hardworking forward that shows such an immense amount of committment in every match that it is only inevitable that he is going to slip up every now and again simply due to the shitload of work that he does do.

Keep up the great work Nuts, there are sharks fans out there that do appreciate the blood, sweat and tears you put into this club.

Ahh Nulla...We'll have to agree to disagree, however I think his record speaks for itself. Hard work for 95% of the time does not excuse dopey stuff 5% of the time. Slipping up 'every now and then' is not an option, it is NOT something we should consider to be 'inevitable'. As for loyalty...   Mate, our club is a meal ticket to most of these guys, Nutley more so than most.

Before you blindly defend Nutley, ask some of the less experienced players in the squad how much of a 'thug' he is...

We need some thug to go close. And don't try to tell me Nutely is any more a thug than the absolute king of brainsnaps Mr. Beattie. What Nutley does have to learn is to assess our momentum and field position when he gets square and not give stuff away when we least need it.

Shark, my defending of Nutley is not blind pal. I know that he is the most penalised player but A LOT of that is because he makes BY FAR the most tackles in the league. What I am saying is that it is inevitable that because he is involved in so many more tackles then other players, natually he will find himself being penalised more. I do agree that he needs to try and limit the penalties he gives and maybe he can do this by staying out of the game when he is tired and more likely to produce a lazy arm.

However, I do not believe that he is a pure thug. Likewise, I do not believe he sees Cronulla as simply a meal ticket. He shows guts and pride every game. This was evident against Parra when we were smashed 70-4 last year. Review that game and then tell me that Nutley has no pride for this club.
