If you follow rugby league then in my opinion you have just got to admit that the Pennies are one of the greatest sides ever. I know I am and I have followed league closely for well over 56 years.

To win four in a row is just amazing in this era of the Salary Cap.

Every year after winning the Panthers have lost players because of the cap yet they just bounce back producing another local to fill the spots. How many St Mary's juniors were in the side yesterday. Five wasn't it.

And this win and the previous three victories were in 16 / 17 team competitions.

When you look back and consider the great Souths side and their run of five GFs in a row (winning four lost in 69) back in the late 60s early 70s it was in a twelve team competition.

Look even further back to St George's run of 11 straight in the 50's and 60's it was a 10 side competition with unlimited tackle rule. (No 4 or 6 tackles)

Yep the Panthers are incomparable rugby league champions and most of us will not see a run like this again. You have just got to admit how brilliant they are and have been.

Pssst and I was going for the Storm.
Most come from disadvantage families Rugby League is seen as an escape from poverty, that's why you see a lot of these Islander players buy homes for their parents, There is no self entitlement they are all playing well for the greater good of the area community, and club.

When channel 9 was introducing the players before the start of the game, did you notice that most of the Storm players come Queensland. Surely after 27 years of being in the competition where the f**k are their juniors.
And you can understand the Storms imperative to retain the services of Bellyache.

Let us not forget the sharks didn’t exist when the dragons won 11 straight and we were part of that ‘catchment’. I don’t think it Is a stretch at all to say that in reality the sharks also have 11 straight. Or if the dragons want to give us 6 of the 11 and retain 5 I suppose i could live with that.
Regardless, the St George Illawarra Dragons only have 1 and it was aaaagggges ago.

What about Trindall ? I'm sure they'd love for him to be stepping into Luai's shoes.
Sione Katoa, Ronaldo and Cam McInnes too.
I’m sure they would too, but in a straight comparison I’d take Luai, especially partnering with Cleary

Someone do a side by side and see who from sharks makes the panthers team.

Doing it based on a fit game 2 weeks ago

1. Edwards vs Kennedy
2. Turuva vs Katoa - probably closer than I feel but I love Katoa
3. Tago vs Iro - f**k. Either way but I'd go Iro.
4. Alatomi vs Raimen
5. To'o vs Ronnie - To'o but the gap isn't f**king huge. It isn't To'o vs David Simmons.
6. Luai vs Trindall
7. Cleary vs Hynes
8. Loeta vs Rudolf
9. Kenny vs Brailey
10. JFH vs Kaufusi
11. Sorenson vs Nikora
12. Martin vs Wilton
13. Yeo vs McInnes

14. Gardner vs Williams
15. Smith vs Hunt - but f**k me apparently smith is an aussie rep now..
16. Henry vs Hazleton
17. Schneider vs Talakai

Taking a step back I have us 9 of 17. Their spine is way better than ours. Their props kill ours. The gaps there are so much bigger than say Ronnie vs To'o.

I'd say our edges and bench are better. But it doesn't matter because their middle and spine is so f**king good we can't get close to them.

Do we spend too much on our bench? Do we spend too much on our edges? Next year they lose Turuva, Luai and Leota. We get AFB. This should help close the gap but as many feel it is not enough.

We seem stuck which is why all of us are so annoyed. We have a good squad and we are close but we need something more. Melbourne I reckon are the ones to chase next year with Nas and the tigers fella up front with their spine.

You've got your sides of the field confused on a few of them.
All the outside backs you've got on the wrong side.
And the second rowers as well.

I did it on 1-17 named 2 weeks and just added in Raimen which put Sifa on bench and Sorenson for them who played the gf.

Not sure it changes things too much either way though? I'd take Martin and Nikora then work it out if I was to pick from the 4 backrowers. Same with the centres and wing options. It is their props plus 1,6,7 who kill us. Melbourne it is always Munster, Grant Pap, Hughes along with NAS who f**king kill us.

It is just the same players, same teams who drill into our imperfections. The others can't seem to hit our obvious weaknesses that the media make look so easy and dumb from us. This is why it is an entire fan base head butting glass waiting for the fix.
