That would be my team next year. I'd love to see Ryan Williamson get a crack in the centres in first grade. Was choosing between him and Moeakiola for the wing spot but gave it to Moeakiola because Williamson is more a centre, and a damn good one too. Shaun Kenny-Dowall needs to refine his skills back at Newtown and if he can do that then he can move back up into the team. I'm not sure if we've signed Jason Ryles but I just put him in there anyway. Martin Kennedy would replace Ryles in the starting line-up if he is injured. If Sa is still signed next year, put him into the centres and move Graham to the wing instead of Moeakiola. That's a good team IMO.

It was a good team until you said this :sarcasm:

I think we have some decent competition in every position.
Unlike last year, where due to injury, misbehaviour, and terrible form, we were struggling to fill the side.

Same thing that happened to him a year or so ago, Mongose.
RE the Shark bashing - What's the difference between next season's team and 2008's?
A few more established first graders but still nevilles.

The positives of finishing sh*tty is that there is so much room for improvement and I expect they'll contest for the 8 again because these guys are no names but they're young and eager.

Sorry mate, I just think that the club won't keep him just to not use him at all. If I had my way, I'd sack him but IMO that's not going to happen because it would have already been done. There is no doubting that Sa is one of the most talented players in the NRL on his day, but he is out of form at the moment. Hopefully a new season means a new start for him and he can return to the field and do what he does best.

I agree we have pretty decent depth across the board. I think the team I named has a good blend of youth and experience.

I see Sa as almost a carbon copy of Mateo, but the Roosters use him all wrong. Put the kid a lock and watch him go. Its a shame he has ruined his career now too.

I've always liked Sa; pity his career when sh1thouse at the Roosters. Under a new coach he might become a superstar - he has the potential, just not the guidance.

Off-Season Footy! Let's get going. :)

1. Josh Hoffman
2. Denan Kemp
3. Israel Folau
4. Justin Hodges
5. Jharal Yow Yeh
6. Darren Lockyer
7. Peter Wallace
8. Nick Kenny
9. Andrew McCullough
10. Joel Clinton
11. Ben Te'o
12. Sam Thaiday
13. Corey Parker

14. Lagi Setu
15. Alex Glenn
16. Ashton Sims
17. Josh McGuire

The Broncos could also be possibly signing Jason Cayless, the decision pending on a medical assessment.

That backline may change through out the course of the season with Beale, Gagai, Winterstein, Michaels and Copley to challenge those selected.

I think this is he only Broncos team I have seen on this forum. They have a great backline with good depth but not sure on the forwards. I cant think of any other forwards the Broncos have that isn't in that side??
Lose a prop or Thaiday and the forward pack is looking a lot weaker, one of the least dominant packs ive seen in some time now for the Broncos

Would prefer to see this for the Cowboys:

1. Gallant
2. J Williams
3. O'Donnell
4. Tonga
5. Graham/Bani
6. Burns (I'd also like to see Matt Bowen return as a 5/8th)
7. Thurston
8. Scott
9. Payne
10. Tamou
11. Webb
12. Bolton
13. Southern

14. Watts
15. Rapira
16. Kaufusi
17. Leeson Ah Mau/Manuokafoa

18. Ben Harris
19. Grant Rovelli
20. Dane Hogan
21. Isaak Ah Mau

Our biggest problem in 2009 was our backline, specifically Ash Graham at right centre. He can't pass, so the best winger at the club, John Williams, saw hardly any ball in attack. And he can't tackle, so our right-side defence was like swiss cheese.

We have great backrowers coming out of our ears, so moving O'Donnell to centre won't take anything away from our forward pack. I'd even be happy if he played lock in defence and centre in attack - he's certainly fit enough to do both for 80 mins.

Also, our right-side defence would consist of Bolton, Burns, O'Donnell and J Williams. NOBODY is going to break through that!!

you would have to score 30+ a game, because you would get at least 30 put on you.

How so? Darren Lockyer doesn't need any explanation, he's the best.

Tim Smith is an absolute gun; won the 2005 Rookie of the year beating the likes of Greg Inglis (if memory serves me correctly). He has a superior passing game than most other Halfbacks and has flogged established players when it comes to try assists.

Peter Wallace is as solid as a house when it comes to defense. He'd pretty much fill K Hunts vacant role in the Halfback-Five/Eighth-Fullback move we have. He'd have a license to roam the field playing as a second Five-eighth and chiming in with his fairly decent kicking game.

I wouldn't be overly shocked if something similar happened.

He means defensively. Tim Smith is probably the 2nd worst defensive halfback I've seen (Sandow is far and away #1), while Lockyer's tackling problems have been well documented.

I think Wallace would actually handle the defensive duties of a lock fine, but the argument is moot anyway. Our halves combo on round 1 is certain to be 6. Lockyer, 7. Wallace and I'd wager a fair amount that, barring injury/suspension, it will remain that way all season.

www.nrlstats.com

In 2005 playing a full season with the Eels he was the 14th worst defensive Halfback. 37 missed tackles over 26 games. Therefore he was the second best defensive halfback out of 15 teams. The worst was Brett Seymour (Brisbane) with 161 missed tackles over 25 games.

In 2006 playing just 15 games with the Eels he was the 21st worst defensive Halfback. 22 missed tackles over 15 games. His counterpart, Jeremy Smith who played only 10 games at Halfback missed 22 tackles as well. The worst was Matt Orford(Sea Eagles) with 93 missed tackles over a full season.

In 2007 playing a full season with the Eels he was the 7th worst defensive Halfback with 56 missed tackles. The worst was Johnathan Thurston(Cowboys) with 121 missed tackles over 25 games.

In 2008 only playing 3 games due to his problems with Bi-polar syndrome he missed 3 tackles. The worst was Brett Kimmorley(Sharks) with 145 missed tackles over a full season.

I'd say your argument is void, sorry bro.

No need to apologise, "bro". You obviously put a lot of faith into stats. Unfortunately stats don't tell the whole story.

If you watched Smith over the course of his career, you might recall how his defensive game was a mixture of jersey grabbing and poor reads (fetch me the stats for poor reads in defence will you?). The guy had a total aversion to using his shoulders in tackles.

Compare him to someone like Thurston or Wallace, who granted, miss more tackles, but make a larger number of one-on-one tackles, often important tackles that have to be made.

Now you can fire back with all the statistics that you like, it won't change the fact that "your Broncos side" will never happen, nor my opinion that Smith is one of the worst defensive halfbacks of recent times.

Actually I'm not heavily into statistics, but in some cases they are note worthy and contribute to a discussion. I know very well statistics don't tell the whole story and I get pretty peeved when people use them religiously. For example - statistics wise Justin Hodges isn't all that flash, but there's no one else I'd rather in my Broncos side, QLD side or Australian side.

I'm just trying to point out that sometimes people like yourself make observations and then take it as fact. A player like Tim Smith might make a few dodgy tackles and all of a sudden he's the worst defense player in 100 years yet realistically he isn't all that bad. Sure he might have lapses in his defense, and a few 'jersey grabs and poor reads' when it comes to general play, but keep in mind he's only what, 24? He made his debut at around 20 and is still fairly young in terms of experience. I know plenty of players that came into first grade and it took a few seasons to get their defense under check.

Keep in mind he was at Parramatta when Michael Hagan was still coach and any League fan knows how poor sides performed under his guidance as a coach. I'm not trying to make excuses, nor will I place my mortgage on my 'potential' side being fact, but sometimes a change of clubs brings out the best in players.

What i hope for:

1) B. Stewart
2) M. Robertson
3) J. Lyon
4) S. Matai
5) D. Williams
6) K. Foran
7) M. Orford
8) B. Kite
9) M. Ballin
10) J. Perry
11) A. Watmough
12) G. Stewart
13) C. Bailey

14) T.Williams
15) J.Galuvao
16) J.King
17) G.Rose

Hard decision to leave Farrar out, or the another side i would go with would be slot Lyon back into 5/8 where i think we play better (see 2008 lol) and have Farrar play in the centres where he did very well for Manly this year.
But would like to see Foran given a proper go.
