Lima is still pretty solid defensively, moreso than his teammate Adam Blair and he is one of the best go forward men in the game and can play long minutes if needed.

He is the type of guy the Tigers need, a good big man that rolls his sleeves up and gets you over the advantage line, apart from Galloway you didn't really have that and you definitely missed him while he was injured.

Cayless or Lima would suit that role well.

Agree 100%. Cayless, Lima and Tuqiri and our side would be FANTASTIC:

1. Tuqiri
2. Tuiaki
3. Ayshford
4. Lawrence
5. Ryan
6. Marshall
7. Moltzen
8. Lima
9. Farah (c)
10. Galloway
11. Ellis
12. Heighington
13. Fulton

14. Taumata
15. Payten
16. J.Cayless
17. Gibbs

That would still leave the following players for depth (all have played FG except Flanagan):

Mitch Brown
Geoff Daniella
Tame Tupou
Mark Flanagan
Al Shirnack
Junior Moors
John Skandalis
Willie Mataka
Simon Dwyer
David Gower
Robert Lui

I can't see all those three signings happening though, as nice as it would be.

The most important list of names for the Sharks:

David Simmons
Misi Taulapapa
Mitch Brown
Bronx Goodwin
Blake Green
Corey Hughes
Terrence Seu Seu
Bryan Norrie
Ian Donnelly
Jacob Selmes

and more i'm forgetting. Addition by subtraction is the theme for the 2010 Sharks lineup, we didn't win the spoon with that group of mediocre at best/utter trash at worst players getting significant playing time so going with a younger, faster, better lineup with lots of potential to improve shouldn't get it either.

based on this - the Panthers, Knights, Dragons and Sharks are treading water, whilst some clubs have improved markedly.
whilst on paper we've only signed Tuimavave who is a NZ international prop we've lost no one of significance and guys like McManus, Cross, Tolar, Paterson, Ciraldo will be like new signings themselves having missed much of 2009

Fa'aoso was one of the most effective and damaging bench forwards all year. But you're right - he shouldn't be there at all just so we can accommodate a fat bastard with potential

Fa'aoso is good off the bench but he drops the ball way too much IMO.

On Wicks I feel that next year is his make or break year. He has already been great off the field by getting his contract $$$ reduced, now let's see how he can go on it. I feel that it will fire him up.

On a side note, I'd love to see Mika or Tovo get some more game time.

And what's happening with Natusch? Is he still going to the Broncos?

I was hoping we would sign Tim Smith but it seems very unlikely, Rogers is the lesser of two evils he can defend and can occasionally do something good in attack.

Mullen is better at five-eighth though and he has stated that he prefers to play there.

Is there any word on how long it will take him to recover from surgery?

Bit rich Cronulla calling another club 'scum'

You're both scum.........

Fa'aoso of 2008 i would agree but 2009 was much better, the impact was there as always and offloads too with less drop ball. Fa'aoso in 2009 reminded me of Fui a few years ago. Wicks, I don't care if he's lost 15kg and has a six pack is still rubbish

I thought that's what they attempted to do this year too. Except they sucked at it.

The view form the top is nice isnt it eels dude. Poor form bagging a club though that had a year like the sharks did. Spose thats just the type of bloke you are hey?

Bit rich Cronulla calling another club 'scum'

Why cos we had the guts to sack players?? But its ok to punch sponsors, hve sexual asault charges and punch your girlfriend?

Im not worried about next year, we CAN NOT win the comp in the next 2 years with our team, its far too young, but just like the raiders look out when these kids grow up.

I think the Souths pack will look a bit different to what people expect as they will fin an 80 minute back rower and put one of the bigger names on the bench.
Maybe Ben Lowe as 80 minute and Crocker or Stuart on the bench.

Richie made 18 errors this year, less than Houston, Mullen, Lulia, Rogers, Sau, and finally Gidley who made a whopping 38 errors, second only to Slater who made 43.

On a side note, I'd love to see Mika or Tovo get some more game time.
Agreed, but with all players fit and firing next year they won't get a look in.

And what's happening with Natusch? Is he still going to the Broncos?
Yes

I take your point, however perhaps the most significant loss is the coach.

It will be interesting to see how Stone goes next year when the honeymoon is over.

Also, Cross will certainly be there, but
  • who is going to drop out for Cirro and/or Tolar (if he ever comes back from that horrific knee injury);
  • will Pato ever be right; and
  • even Jimmy - Coops, Aku, McDonnell, Lulia (or 2 thereof) may well have jumped past him.
I would start with Coops and Jim but who knows what Stone is thinking there.

We will get the inevitable injuries and we have some depth, but we are still lacking that superstar or two to get us home in the big games.

Gids and Mullo just aren't in that upper echelon where we need them to be.... hell, this years premiers have four superstars (Slater, Inglis, Smith, Cronk).

It was reported on 2UE that Pearce was bustling to leave the Roosters and if he did Manly would sign him, but I think that won't happen now since it was reported that Manly had renewed the contracts of Orford, Robertson, D.Williams and Lyon today.

It wasn't reported on 2UE at all.. They just read an email from an anonymous listener.. I know for a fact that he is not looking to leave and is excited about working with Brian Smith next season.

This is the reason why I think 2011 may be the year for the Knights. While in the long run Brian Smith leaving is good in the short term it may mean putting together a team Stone is comfortable with. But at least he gets a full offseason and is familiar with the squad. I think the Knights will find it tough to make the playoffs in 2010 due to Brian Smith and his forever tinkering with the halves.

Im thinking cusp of 8 in 2010 and if stability is gained I would go for top 6 in 2011.

He will enjoy a new challenge every week, that is what Brian Smith offers a halfback or 5/8. The worst thing about that is they have 3 class players trying to fit in two positions.
