We're in the swing of Origin and as usual, some NSWelshmen have gone full genius.........even after a win.

Hayne has a Grade 1 Hamstring tear- out for 2 weeks but should be fine for origin 2!
Yeah it's only a grade 1 which surprises me because usually a pop and inability to keep playing points to 2 or 3.

Shorter but the same weight makes him more stocky. He is very strong for his size, and one of his biggest strengths is his ability to hit the ball up and carry defenders or bump them off despite them being bigger then him. This is a strength that is handy to have in any game and as part of any team.

Nathan Merritt is a great finisher, but his finishing is usually with the line wide open and no one in front of him. QLD don't often provide many circumstances where this happens. Almost all of the tries Darius Boyd has scored in Origin are a result of Greg Inglis creating that sort of space for him. But the NSW wingers haven't had the luxury of the same being created for them. But then again our centres don't tend to get the same sort of ball either... our game is played primarily through the forwards. When our backs chime in they're usually doing so as extra forwards also. Something that Nathan Merritt could not add to the team.

If Hayne is out I don't think Stewart is a good option for replacement - he still seems to run slowly and gingerly. Seems fragile somehow.

As much as I hate to say it, I think Dugan would be the best replacement if it comes to it. Stewart would be too underdone.

Why would you hate to say it? He might be a douche off the field, but he is still a great young fullback with plenty of potential and has experience in the origin arena up in suncorp aswell.

1. Hayne (Dugan)
2. Morris
3. Jennings
4. Morris
5. Ferguson

6. Maloney (k)
7. Pearce

8. Gallen (c)
9. Farah (vc)(Hinchcliffe/Ennis/Gidley etc) [We are in big strife if Farah can't play]
10. Tamou
11. Lewis
12. Hoffman
13. Bird

14. Reynolds/Woods
15. Merrin
16. Fifita
17. Watmough

18. Woods/Reynolds

The only unforced change I would consider is another big man for Reynolds. I have no problem with the same XVII being picked. I do think we will need another big bopper in Brisbane, especially if Qld add a prop or two, which they will.

We need to keep rolling through the middle and improve our completions and discipline to win in Brisbane though.

Because he is our most dominant prop. Apart from a drop or two he played well. I don't see him making that many handling errors in the next game.

Tamou was heavily targeted by QLD defence in game 1, but I do agree he has been slightly overrated in the origin arena.

Targeted or not, 52m off 7 hitups in 42min, when your pack is dominating isn't good enough.

Can't remember his stats from last year either but I think he is yet to crack 80m in an origin yet.

Hopefully he will start to dominate for the blues like he has shown many times for club
