Gidley is the problem. Tyrone and Mullen would play just fine without him there. They have done it before. Gidley is the poison. Gidley is the cancer.

Pfft Gidley didn't make Roberts drop the ball 40 times yesterday. The best thing Gidley did was to be practically invisible until he dropped the ball near the end. Roberts was comfortably the worst player on ground and it was nothing to do with Gidley.

I have more faith in Roberts to conjure something up then I do Gidley. I won't defend Roberts for yesterday. He was just awful.

Neither can kick in general play and Gidley stuffs our attack up more than Roberts. Therefore Roberts > Gidley. Case closed.

You're also underestimating Kurt's aura: The complete ability to negatively influence the performances of those around him from a seemingly great distance away.

Roberts needs some time in NSW Cup or at least the bench for not only the sake of the squad but him as well. He's clearly down on confidence which was evident by letting the ball bounce from the drop out yesterday. He needs to either go back to NSW Cup or play a more simple role from the bench. I've never rated Roberts as a starting halfback and I don't think I ever will but he's capable of much better than the tripe he's been turning up with this year.

I do agree though re Gidley's influence. The sudden improvement in our composure when he's not there is quite obvious. As a captain he really needs to be a calming influence but he's more the opposite. I know he gets a lot of compliments for being so enthusiastic but it can also go too far in the opposite direction.

Seriously, it doesn't matter.

Stone doesn't even talk tough, how do you expect him to make a tough decision.

Dropping Gidley, there is more chance of Joey playing than that happening.

Paul Gallen has a similar thing where he tries to selfishly do everything at Cronulla, thinking it will lead the team, when all it does is get in the road of any other attacking moves they might be conjuring up.

Exactly. He is not hard enough to get the most out of his team like Hasler, Bellamy, Maguire et al.

Yep, let's make wholesale changes. That's the answer!

I don't think we need wholesale changes but we do need some accountability. That's not going to happen when the same blokes f**k up and make the same errors week after week, year after year in some cases but keep being assured of a spot in the side.

I don't expect him to make the tough decision with Kurt at all. We all know he's not going to.

Just saying what I'd do.

I don't expect many changes...Stoney seems to have rediscovered Hagan's copy and paste

I'd probably do something like that.

Korbin has been close to our best forward so far this year. Yes he dropped a few but he also was pretty much the only one to take it to them.

VaiVai is fatter than me.

Redman is not first grade standard.

So Sims in run on, Stockwell and Levi to bench, VaiVai to fat camp.

And we might be a chance to stay within 30.

I'd keep Gagai at centre because of the form he is in.
Wouldn't risk putting a different pressure and approach on him right now and we need him where he is.
How long until Rochow is back?

I didn't mean to drop Sims, I just forgot about him, lol. Sims in for fatty for sure.

I thought they weren't going to operate on Rochow?

Newcastle Knights forward Robbie Rochow will be sidelined for approximately eight weeks after having back surgery in Newcastle on Monday.

Rochow hasn’t played since withdrawing before kick off in Round 4 and tried to manage the injury however after minimal relief, surgery was required.

The 24-year-old’s surgery went well and he is expected to be released from hospital on Tuesday.

He is likely to resume modified training next week and be ready to return from Round 14 onwards.

Pretty simple.

Sione is terrible at fullback but a natural centre.

Gagai by all accounts is a gun there, is in amazing form, and we want the ball in his hands as much as possible.

We have nothing to lose by starting the future now.

As much as I'd love to make the change now (although lets be honest - Gidley won't be dropped) it's probably not fair on Gagai to move him now and risk hurting his form just because the spine is in a mess.

I'd like to see him at fullback in the future so Sione can play centre but it would probably be best giving him an off season training there. We saw what happened last year when he was just moved back there out of the blue. He didn't handle it well at all.

Mamo to the wing is probably a lot safer option than placing him in the hardest position on the field to master due to it's defensive and offensive demands in a positional sense. Problem is I don't see any other way to fit Sione in other than dropping McManus and playing Mamo at fullback cos Dane has been outstanding at centre. Keeping Gidley will definitely see us lose Mamo. In fact Mamo is said to be coveting a fullback spot. I would not be stunned if the Roosters swoop for him to replace RTS as a far cheaper option.
