It's a big worry. We need a spinner to have a great domestic season.
where it say that white has been sent over
White bizarre choice to replace McGain
October 04, 2008 AUSTRALIA'S selectors sprang a surprise Saturday by bizarrely choosing Victorian captain Cameron White to replace injured legspinner Bryce McGain in the Test squad to face India.
White has been regarded as a limited overs option in recent times, his last flirtation with a spot in the Test side when he toured India as part of the victorious 2004 team.
Since then, White has worked hard to improve his flat leg breaks, but has only been used sparingly as a bowler when in the Australian one-day and Twenty20 teams.
His more lasting impression has been made as an uncomplicated batsman capable of hitting sixes.
Come back Warnie!!!!!!!!!
:lol::lol: Sounds like he is doing it tough..........he is real busy these days with his many other commitments, playng poker, golf , and having random sex
The cupboard is just so bare at the moment.
One thing is for sure - it's suicide going in without a specialist. If we do that, we may as well go in with three quicks + Watson as the bowling attack, because we're going to need a shirtload of runs to try and wear down the Indians.
A five prong pace attack in India results in a 4-0 Indian Victory.
My side, assuming that Krezja is not an option, is this:
1-P.Jaques
2-M.Hayden
3-R.Ponting
4-M.Hussey
5-M.Clarke
6-S.Katich
7-B.Haddin
8-S.Watson
9-B.Lee
10-S.Clark
11-D.Bollinger
sorry typo
name me a current wrist spinner who has done well over there in recent times?
i can see the variation side of things, but im not sure thats the plan we should have on this tour, especially with our spin options, for a couple of tests anyway
White is very much like Kumble and he has improved considerably since Warnie started working with our Institute.
To be fair, it's hard to see how White could have gotten worse...
White is like Kumble in the same way Mick Lewis is like Glenn McGrath :sarcasm:
sorry, but I understand if stats guru doesn't let you compare similar actions
Excellent - then by your criteria I am "similar" to Sir Richard Hadlee
White will be a lot more "similar" to Kumble when:
1. He masters the art of having the ball bounce once before the popping crease - 0, 2 or 3 are not quite good enough.
2. He learns to bowl straight.
3. He controls and varies his flight, and manages to turn the small a wee bit.
4. He takes 500+ test wickets...
so White bounces the ball 2 or 3 times, and Kumble varies his flight
do you watch much cricket ?
would you say Mendis will only be sucessful if and when he gets 500 wickets ?
