The problem is the NRL should have a strategic plan for expansion and growth, not select the "best bid" like it's a job interview. The NRL doesn't need central coast or Brisbane 3 just because it ticks some short term boxes. If it wants Perth then the NRL should be working with a Perth consortium and the WA govt to improve their chances of being successful. Such an amateur organisation sometimes.

Clout? Maybe if it were 1924, not 2024. Hopefully if it is the Perth Bears that get up all they inherit is the colours and mascot and not the Bears’ penchant for snatching defeat from the jaws of victory.
