I think Simms has been one of the form forwards in the comp this year. I think he would be suited origin. I think his form has been better than Cordner. I hope he gets picked. Imagine if we had Simms, Frizell, Vaughn and DeBelin all picked for origin. With Graham playing for England, we would have an all representative pack besides McInnes who is also being mentioned as a possible chance too (I think Cook or Koroisau will be pick for NSW). Then our pack would gain the recognition as the best pack in the game, like I suggested it was 2 or 3 weeks ago. Gee we have got a tough backrow. I like the idea of other packs fearing us.
Cordner is NSW Captain - not going anywhere - you can set in stone the starting back row for NSW
TRBJOVIC
CORDNER
FRIZELL

at best JDB, Sims, Vaughan on the bench ...

Unfortunately during origin week and the international test match we will be playing a full strength Parra on a Thursday night! Our team will most likely look like this as Mcgregor has gone on record to rest any player involved in these matches. We are very very under strength and looking straight down the barrel of a hard night out..

Me thinks you listen to too much hype and are now a Rothfield disciple. You forget that many players are rusted onto the NSW side and no way they will pick 4 or more debutants let alone 4 debutants from 1 team.
IMO Aitken, Nightingale (the NZ selectors aren't as stupid as ours) and most likely Sims will all be available for us.
Not sure about Mc Inness either so have bracketed him.
Our team will most probably look like this
Dufty
Nightingale
Aitken
Lafai
Mc Donald
Mann
Nicholls
Sele
Sims
Host
Latimore
Mc Innes / Robson
Lam

Reserves
Lawrie
Leilua
Allgood
Field

Mann a 100% certainty to play 5/8 during that period
If Mc Inness doesn't make SOO then Robson to replace Field on the bench.
IMO Host needs some 1st grade time starting next week to get him ready as well.

Maybe your right but there's a big tip that Fittler will go in w 2 hookers Mciness to start and Cook to come on during 2nd part of each half..
The only bolt ons n the forwards are: Cordner, Trbojevic, Klemmer and Frizell. Every other position is open .. Fittler will make mass changes so he gets to mould the team he wants.. Sims will go close to being selected - he has way too much positive aggression to waste it - he has no peer in this dept and NSW needs an enforcer now that Fifita is not available.
Latrell Mitchell or Aitken will partner DUGAN in the centres.

Oh, it does leave you a utility or bench forward short.
Which in that case Fittler will be looking for 80 minute forwards, JDB and Frizell can do 80 minutes standing on thier heads.

Representative rewards on the horizon for St George Illawarra stars
  • Dragon's Den

Galaxy of stars: Dragons halfback Ben Hunt will be in line to play State of Origin for Queensland. Picture: AAP Image

St George Illawarra could have as many nine stars unavailable if Dragons players are rewarded for their blistering start to the season with representative selection.

St George Illawarra maintained their perfect start to the season with a 40-20 win over fierce local rivals Cronulla in their derby clash on Friday night.

The Dragons are top of the NRL table with six wins from as many starts, leading to a number of their players being spoken about to play representative football.

Queensland will defend their State of Origin title against NSW starting with game one in Melbourne on June 6. They then play in Sydney on June 24 and Brisbane on July 11.

Tyson Frizell and Ben Hunt are likely to be chosen for the Blues and Maroons respectively. But St George Illawarra’s incredible start to the campaign has a number of players including Jack de Belin, Paul Vaughan, Cameron McInnes and Euan Aitken being mooted to be part of new NSW coach Brad Fittler’s fresh start at the helm.

Dragons trio Gareth Widdop, James Graham and Jason Nightingale all also in the mix to play for England and New Zealand in their historic Test match in Denver on June 23.

But with around six weeks to go before the teams for Origin I are chosen, McGregor said he is happy for his players to be rewarded as long as their focus remains on the red V.

“I think for anyone to be successful in anything you need a purpose. And if you’ve got a purpose then you’ve got to have a passion for that purpose. Then you’ve got to be disciplined around that passion that you show. And I think the guys have got that,” he said.

“So if my players are successful because of the passion they’ve shown and the purpose they’ve got you’ve got to reward it.

“At the moment I’ve told the guys it’s about our team. It’s got to be we before me.

So if my players are successful because of the passion they’ve shown and the purpose they’ve got you’ve got to reward it.

    Dragons coach Paul McGregor
“If they’re playing well in four or five weeks time they’ll get the rewards. But if their team and their form drops off, before they’re picked in Origin they’ve got to play consistently for a long period of time.

“And then they’ve got to replace current Australian players in their position.

“So to do that it’s about playing well for a long period of time, not just six weeks of the competition.

“At the moment they’re doing that.

State of Origin 2018: Brad Fittler considers picking TWO hookers for NSW Blues
New South Wales

NSW will seriously consider picking a specialist hooker on the bench for the first time in two decades for June’s State of Origin series opener against Queensland.

Blues coach Brad Fittler admitted on Tuesday it was a “big possibility” the Blues could run with two hookers in their squad in Melbourne, with Cameron McInnes, Damien Cook and Apisai Koroisau all likely in the frame.

Not since the Super League-stricken series of 1997 have the Blues gone with a specialist hooker on the bench, when Parramatta dummy-half Aaron Raper was picked for Game II.

Since then selectors have preferred a utility option, with Craig Wing, Dean Young and Craig Gower among those to have come off the interchange and into dummy-half despite having played the majority of their club career elsewhere.

But with Fittler desperate to find a way to nullify Queensland captain Cameron Smith in the No.9, he’s indicated things could well change.

“I’ve always thought that was a tactic they haven’t looked deeply enough into in the past,” Fittler said on Tuesday.

“But there is a big possibility we will go in with two hookers.

Fittler to play two hookers?

2:01
“Given forwards are so fit and if the game is at stop-start as it is, a lot of the time you don’t get to give forwards a full game.”

Fittler has already suggested club combinations could be beneficial, poignant given Koroisau’s combination with the Trbojevic brothers at Manly and St George Illawarra’s in-form forward pack alonsgide McInnes.

But he indicated that wouldn’t necessarily count against Cook at South Sydney.

“If they have to come in and they’re the only person from the club then that would have to be it,” he said.

“I think McInnes is playing with a few St George Illawarra forwards at the moment who are playing really good - it could be beneficial to him.”

How Fittler handles his bench will be key.

The prevalence of concussion checks mean there has been a shift in the NRL to do away with a second hooker, and instead play a utility.

Blues assistant Danny Buderus nominated Tyrone Peachey as an option on Tuesday, after the Penrith said he felt he could figure in almost any position for the Blues.

But Fittler also has the advantage of Wade Graham in his 17 - if he is fit - who has played anywhere from the halves to lock and could potentially figure at centre in the case of an injury.

Graham isn’t due back from a hamstring injury until as late as a fortnight before the team is named, but Fittler indicated he’d be more willing to have him slot straight into the side than uncapped halfback Nathan Cleary - who is also due back round 11.

“Some players have more State of Origin experience most probably get a bigger leeway there. Rookies you probably want playing up to Origin or be as fit as they possibly can,” Fittler said.

I said the 2 hooker scenario was on the cards last week - now it’s hit the media - Mciness/Cook tandem for SOO.

Micky , I told you earlier in the week , the media are following your posts and since your been correct so far (?) this season they are now printing what you predict . Tell them the 2018 semi-finalists and see if they also print that . Either that or sue them for plagiarism !

I’m a bad sport.

As much as l want to see our Saints players in SoO, especially JDB ..... with so many possibly being picked, will leave us under strength and open to losses.

As a fan, the club comes first but in saying that, those picked will surely do us proud.
I've always believed SOO should be played on a stand alone weekend. Now that the USA game is on at the same time, surely it is time to make the move.
