Saints upped their offer this afternoon to Roberts offering him a 3rd year - hence the hold up along w Broncos not yet presenting their final offer to the player - YES Broncos have not submitted their offer yet !

My suspicion is player is holding out for Broncos offer if it's not in by tomorrow we get Roberts!

You sound credible but this is more likely to be incredible. Your credibility is at stake. I'll be incredulous if all the talk with Roberts signing with Broncos doesn't eventuate. You will be the 'go to man' for years to come.

The only way we can sign Roberts is if that Gordon decides to help Mary out otherwise the broncos are doing there best to make it look as legal as they can and have the dragons on the side just incase.

If all this soap opera is about sticking it to the 1 horse town then pile it on.

I will also say the recruitment has been brilliant and hats off to whoever for bringing a great bunch of talent together...oh and move Dugan to center Dugan and Lafai= Lethal

Have to agree here... Even being in the fight for this kid is a win.. If we miss out, hope he costs them a sh...load atleast. 2016 still looks good for us.

Different regime in place now. Any import used to have to be paid at least 20% to 30% more to go to the Dragons and play under the regime of supercoach Price.

We always seem to be getting scraps but this is different - I honestly think that Roberts wants to win an origin Jersey plus win a comp over the next 2 years..

The Broncos are realisticLly in his eyes his best chance
Rabbitohs are imploding and Dragons are slowly getting up there but most likely in his eyes doesn't think we can win a comp in the 2 years..

So it will come down to a combination of
- Roberts to accept no more than $50k less than best offer to go to Broncos as it's worth the sacrifice to win Comp and be in a top 4 team coached by Bennett

- but he will find it impossible to knock bAck an offer that's $100k a season better than Broncos deal.. Hence why I think Dragons should have offered him $2m over 3 years..
Year 1 - $550k
Year 2 - $650k
Year 3 - $800k (New salAry cap)

Hence why Dragons have extended the term of the deal to increase the cash component

Fact is, the hottest player available at the minute, is being persued by 3 clubs of which we are one. Ask Dugan now if he regrets his decision. He is already talking about extending.

Three years ago, we would not even stand a chance of securing Roberts or even Lafai.

I think that's his point Tru. He was responding to a post that was along the lines of 'If he doesn't want to be here stuff him.' He was saying same applied to Duges, and as somone else said Benji, and so on as you say.

From my own experience I can tell you that player agents simply recycle exactly the same rumours we see on here. I was assured Folau was going to the Bulldogs which was doing the rounds at the time. Unless it's their own guys they don't have a secret conduit to the truth.

Sorry mate, but therein lies the problem. Mediocrity is the benchmark (I too hate sounding like a broken record). But it's ok because we fell into the 8 and because we are having discussions with Roberts and Bird and Hiku. Or Cronk a couple of years back. You may be satisfied with such improvement but I personally don't find it ok.
