Nothing makes an Australian salty quite like getting toppled by Team GB in the medal count.

But but "population! population!"

I really have never understood the massive chip on the shoulder. Australia is a sporting powerhouse and does remarkably well across an incredibly broad range of sports on the world stage. Be proud of that, look to improve where you can, and stop measuring yourselves against your former Overlords.

Yes but we're perfectionists and want to win everything we enter in.
It's this sort of pressure that probably makes our swimmers bust their knees under the enormous pressure.
It really makes you think about how special Freeman was to win her race, she didn't even look happy she won just relieved!!

I don't mind seeing our British allies go well. For quite a while they didn't go very well in the Olympics and I didn't really understand why, because they have a fairly large population and are a fairly rich nation. I am also part Pom, part Scottish. and part Irish (although I'm not sure if that is Northern Ireland). :D

Big deal, if you can't handle pressure you're not gold medal quality

As I thought. ... NZ are blitzing the mpc ratings..

You've got a few more that's expected to win too haven't you ?

Been pretty good for the kiwis so far, let's hope you get some more.

The funny thing with Australia is that we were expected to win about 13 gold, but only two of the expected gold have come true (the rower last night and the womens 100m relay), but we seem to pull out gold medals in events we're not expected to win.

We might need to combine our tally to beat GB guys, lets do it ... if GB can combine 5 countries then surely Australia, NZ, Fiji can combine theirs lol. Go Oceania !!

Done great this olympics, credit where it's due.
But its one olympics after hosting it, Aus had a fantastic campaign in Athens.

Tokyo will be the proof in the pudding for the Poms.

We've missed a few golds that were hoped for - Val Adams in the shot, the men's team sprint, women's time trail... some others that were medal chances missed out - notably rowers, equestrian. Some red hot chances still on, yachties (although women were disqualified overnight so up against it) and Lisa Carrington - some surprises (canoe slalom) - so about par, I think

Olympics are bloody tough

So where do Australia's golds come from now? Will we get past our London 'slump'?
