Is anyone remotely confident that Dragons can win today? I want to be positive but I am just 100% ready for them to not turn up. I can see Hunt is due for his shocker, Dufty will be ineffective in the wet, Rava will be back to the dropsies.
DCE will have a blinder, Turbo will go through and score a double untouched and Garrick will get MOM whilst Possm destroys Millward for letting him go.
I am grappling with the idea of watching the game or just ignoring it and enjoying my Sunday.
I really hope I am wrong.
Crush Im not liking this game at all , if it keeps raining we might have some chance , and play our normal no passing by our forwards , hold the ball , no penalties , Manly backs dont play to our edges , and no bombing to our fullback and wingers ,,,,,,,, then we could win ...

Our season, if not already gone, hinges on this game and definitely the next against the Cows.

As the ladder stands right now, 7th spot is filled by Manly and 8th by the Eels, both on 14 points but with the bye in hand, so effectively they are both on 16 points. We are 11th on 12 points.
If we lose to Manly, they move to (effectively) 18 points, 3 games ahead of us and 2 games behind the Eels.
Both have superior for and against.

The Cowboys are equal on 12 points but also with a bye in hand (so effectively 14 points and ahead of us). A loss to the Cowboys and that's the season definitely gone, we will not make the 8.

I thought our season was gone a few weeks back. A win against a poor Dogs side hasn't changed my opinion.

You correctly point our that the table is deceiving having us at 11th, as u say we have already banked 2 bye points. To me, once we start depending on other teams (around Us ), dropping points.. , which will lead to those they play securing spots in the top 6, then its season gone.

It would take a streak of 4-5 wins to change my mind. Possible ? sure. Probable ? nope. A loss today, then put a line through us...

I’m not remotely confident at all going into today’s game. We seem to lose the wrestle a lot so I’m expecting Taupau to have a field day with his offloads. Freddy also hasn’t helped by saying publicly that he wants to see more from Tommy Turbo before he picks him for origin.

Well it is hammering down rain here in the city.

Forecast say up to 20mm!

We might get an old-fashioned quagmire at Brookie this arvo.

Fingers crossed...

I really believe that Manly will consign the Dragons to the 2019 garbage bin!

If the rain continues then we may have a chance in this game.

Manly have more errors in their game, statstically than we do (137 to 125) and handling errors are almost identicle (96 to 94).

The game (if wet) will be won through the forwards and dummy half running, I think this is where Manly will get us. For us to win, however, we need to use a very good kicking game that keeps turning their forwards around. Speed is important in the wet so i think Field has to play. With Dufty, Field and Pearson, I think we have them for pace. The problem is who is going to be the offloader?

God I hope we smash Manly, although the wet ground will help them. Look at the quote in the Herald today in an article written by Christian Nicolussi,

“ Manly were robbed of victory against the Dragons this year when Reuben Garrick was escorted off the ball.....”

I seem to remember, even if it should have been a penalty, that we were leading by two, the kick would have been from the sideline and it would have only led to a golden point game. The same comment of Manly being robbed was said on Fox yesterday. Gee the media hammer us.

Truth be told, I can't help but feel that yucky cynical feeling rather than supportive about today's match. We obviously don't rate ourselves any chance this season by the lack of recruitment and the general loss of control, confidence and drive to win games.

I am however going to keep a close eye on T Sims today. Usually plays well v Manly, and he began to show signs of a return to form last week, no doubt inspired more by Origin than Mary. Expect him to have a big one in the wet.

Wow you folks are talking as if we're playing Melbourne in Melbourne... Manly are mid table, we have a very good chance of victory, wet or dry
