isn’t it a strange position he’s taken by apparently mocking the actions of hull kr trying to increase the crowds and the general all round positivity on a game day at craven park.
Hes butthurt that HKR are doing so well after hes slagged them off in some futile and infantile attempt to troll me.
HKR are the blue print for every small RL club that wants to be a big one. In less than 30 years weve gone from a broke 3rd division club playing in a run down stadium in front of less than 1000 to an A grade SL club challenging for titles in front of sell out crowds. Its glorious to see!

But back on topic, apparently building costs are sky high in UK after Brexit and this is causing clubs major issues in terms of stadium upgrades. The East stand extension has gone from 800k in 2008 to nearly 2million pound today!

yawn,
back to Super league stadiums....

Cas doing some improvements:

We are pleased to announce that work has started on seating within the Princess Street stand as part of increasing our stadium grading points. Due to ongoing works the Princess Street stand will be closed for the Wigan Challenge Cup fixture and the London Broncos game on the 26th April.
Access to the Princess Street toilets and Cryer & Stott's van will be available via the Wheldon Road end. Turnstiles within this stand will not be available to use. As a result of the ongoing works, stadium capacity for the two fixtures will be reduced to 7500, we are urging fans to buy tickets in advance for these two upcoming fixtures.

More plans for Wakefield.

WAKEFIELD TRINITY are set to broach the idea of a rooftop bar in a new stadium redevelopment plan, owner Matt Ellis has revealed.

Ellis, who took control of Wakefield midway through the 2023 Super League season, has already overseen hefty investment in a brand new coaching and playing squad at the West Yorkshire club.

But now the owner of DIY Kitchens is keen to continue the impressive stadium redevelopment by concentrating on the West Stand following the installation of the new East Stand
Amongst the ideas for the Western terrace is a rooftop bar – something which Ellis is keen to explore.

“I went up to the gantry, I’d never been before. The view off there, it gave me an idea of standing up there with a beer watching the match, it is one of the best views for rugby,” Ellis told BBC Radio Leeds.
“You’re high up, it’s not set too far back. Just imagine in the middle of summer with a bit of music going before the game, drumming up the atmosphere, it would be great.
“I want to put a roof on the Western terrace. We would see more home tickets in there and then if we could do the rooftop terrace, that would be great.
“We have to tidy it up. If you’re doing events in the East Stand and you’re looking over at the Western terrace, it’s not an ideal thing to look at if it’s a birthday party or wedding event.”

Half way line seats as far back as you can get

but watching from behind the posts does give a different perspective which you don’t get on tv anyway bc they don’t use that camera angle
Back in the day at Station Road Swinton, there was a standard admission charge. Once in, you could buy a transfer to the main stand. Aside from that, you could watch from any part of the ground you liked.

It's obviously harder to provide that sort of flexibility in modern all-seater stadia, but it's self-evidently what many people want. Big crowds at CommBank, AAMI, Mount Smart, Suncorp, have swathes of high-vantage empty seats.

Those "fans" who prefer to sit in one spot with a panoramic view tend to choose their sofas.

I got pretty much the same seats every time I went to a game regardless of the ground

What’s the latest expansion plans for craven park mate?
They want to extend east stand asap as we’ve sold out nearlyevery game this season. That would add an extra 1200 to the east stand. They also have plans to demolish and rebuild the west stand with better corporate facilities. The south stand will be the last to be done, which is good as craven street is brilliant! Had a great time in there the other week.

there’s also plans for anew training centre at the south end Of the land we own. The million pound training pitch is going in shortly as the first step Of that.

Good stuff.

what’s the robins potential high ceiling crowd wise mate?

if the robins were to genuinely break into and become a top 4 super league team regularly finishing in the top 4 and making grandfinals could they hit an average 15k crowd?

Good question, tbh our current crowds are 20% above anything we’ve achieved before. We’ve sold out every game this season, with some continued success and if we can win some silverware then 11-12k isn’t impossible.
it’s ashame other clubs fans dont travel like fans from hull. We took over 1000 to cas this weekend.

Are you aware of either hull clubs targeting areas like North Lincolnshire for fans and setting up junior programs etc?

Not that I know of, though rovers are targeting Holland!

Update on Craven Park east stand from last weeks supporters group meeting:

East stand extension CF – Provided a couple of slides to discuss. As a starting point we are now on our 9th consecutive sell-out for home games, the target the team set this year was to have 7 sell-outs and we have now completed 7 from 7 in this season so far. Everyone very proud of this. London is our best attendances of the season because we were able to sell seats usually held for segregation. CF asks PL to explain why temporary for 2025 before going into further detail PL – As was touched on at the last meeting, the cost of a permanent extension is astronomical at over £1.5million. This would take over 10 years to see a return on investment and we need to be certain that this is required. The temporary stand will be excellent and will have a roof. Better than the temp golf stand we had years ago! Once we know the demand is there, it will provide greater comfort to the board, to consider the permanent extension. CF proceeded to talk through slides of the potential design of the stand with sight lines etc. There will be a reconfiguration of Craven Streat, the old south terrace will be removed. Within this design there will be a new toilet block facility added in the south east. The disabled pod currently within the east stand is under review so that this will not be affected the plan is to hopefully raise the temporary stand creating a walk way under for access and then the pod can stay in situ. AN – How far along are we with this plan? CF – Pretty far – we have had informal chats with the Safety Advisory Group who seem overall happy with the proposed designs – we need to provide some further in-depth numbers regarding gate widths and fencelines, but no major problems seem to have come to light AN – The plans show that the 3G does come into the south area – what will border this? CF – Fencing will be in place around the 3G, work on removing the south terrace is looking to start July/August AB – In terms of membership for the temp stand how would this work? CF – This would be a new area and is reserved seating CB – is this a test to see if seating works within the east stand CF – No this is only temporary any permanent extension would be terracing. ANB – does this effect any future plans for a potential south stand? CF – no everything we do is future-proofed to ensure further work to a South Stand or concerts are not effected PL – If we ever get to the point of needing something in the south this would likely be a terrace for away supporters. The west stand would come before this

CASTLEFORD TIGERS are on track to receive the maximum number of points for their stadium and facilities at the next round of IMG grading, according to new director Martin Jepson.

Jepson, who acquired a third of the club’s shares in last December, has been a constant focal point of communication with fans ever since coming on board at the Tigers.

And, with Castleford often criticised for their stadium and facilities, Jepson has sought to reassure Castleford supporters that the club is on course to achieving maximum stadium points ahead of the next round of IMG grading for 2025 and beyond.
In a statement released on the Tigers’ website, Jepson said: “As we are now halfway through the season, the board and I would like to provide an update to fans on how we are progressing towards increasing our IMG scores and the essential part that you all continue to play in this.

“Our stadium developments are well underway, with the Princess Street seats now in place, extra corporate seats and upcoming plans to improve the director’s seats and walkway.

“Our broadcast parking area is now complete and the remaining works to the media suite, TV Studio and press area will be completed in the next 2 months, well ahead of the grading.

“We now have our new big screen in place and are in the final stages of costing up LED systems for 3 sides of the pitch.
“With all of the above being completed, we are on track and confident that we should receive maximum stadium points.

“Our commitment to you as fans is clear and we are doing everything within our control to gain the IMG points needed to maintain Super League status.”

As well as revealing the stadium points success, Jepson has also appealed to Castleford fans to turn out in numbers for the club’s last four home games in a bid to boost attendance scores.

“The points that we cannot directly control are those related to the game day attendance and these are points that could make a big difference to the overall score – we are doing everything within our power to drive more support to The Jungle every game – whether this is special offers, family fun and activities or multi-ticket deals – we want to make it as easy as possible for new and loyal fans to see a game this season and help us pack The Jungle.
