Well maybe the knights should bring in a policy that once a player hits 30 years old they must be cut as it could cost a lower grader a chance that he may or may not take... Or maybe we should make it 27 years old, just to make it really sure.
Wow...you really lack the maturity to be involved in a serious discussion.

Fact is, Doogs at this point in time has dominated all the centres you mentioned. Medicore? I think not.
You reckon be dominated Josh Morris the other night? Sorry, don't share your opinion. He got one over Jennings, however for the whole Jennings has had a very good season.

Down that side of the field between Morris and Goodwin they have scored 40 tries so far this year! What is wrong with aspiring to achieve those type of results? Why do we have to be happy with half of that and struggling to get in to the 8?

Who's negative?

" I completely agree that if the Roosters beat us on Saturday Smith should be gone.....

We quite simply will not make the 8 if this occurs. " 27/07/2009 Baron Vo Mandor

or...

" I think we can make the Top 8. They can turn this season around starting with Monday night against the Storm. A game I didn't think we could win, but now a game I think we will win. " - 16/08/2009 Karmawave

And that was when we looked like shot ducks?

Karmawave being negative is a myth that people like to play on. ;-)

Great selective quoting Karma unfortunately I am not petty enough to go and grab one of your 10,000 quotes.

Nice that you picked quotes a month a part, when we were already comming off a heavy loss to the seaeagles and Smith had just mad his announcement.

Then you pick a quote when Stones just taken over, and when every other team that happens to they go ahead and win their next few.....

I wonder how close that quote came after the stone announcement was made.

Just showing its not all negative mate. I think its unfairly lumped on me to be honest.

My quote came after the loss to the Roosters and after the 40-8 thumping by the Eels. It was the morning after Rick Stone became coach.

Still , its positive right? Thats merely my point.

The thread about if we will make the 8 started by Macavity makes for interesting reading, especially the high amount " NO " answers in it following the Roosters/Eels losses.

Admittedly I thought our work was cut out for us to make the 8 before the season started, but unlike most others on here, I didn't go all emo when our solid season was going to ratsh*t, and instead believed mid turmoil that it would still all come down to the Panthers game.

Alot of the other bandwagoners jumped off well before then.

Wow...you really lack the maturity to be involved in a serious discussion.

It's very hard to be serious when you're pushing for our best player or close to it to retire this year because of his age.

I would have gone into games a lot more nervous if it wasn't for macdougall marking up against the big names of the game in inglis, jennings etc. He kept them quiet which is something almost impossible to do, yet you want him gone because of his age, lol.

Maybe you should contact the ceo at Penrith and tell him that it's time to get rid of Civoniceva as well. "I know he's just about your best player and has carried your team all year, but there is the chance he will play a year too many and hold another front rower back. Time to go Petero." lol.

Not necessarily.

Doogs brings much more than just his play to the team. He brings his experience, enthusiasm and enjoyment of the game. I bet there are a lot of players who would love to be in a team with Doogs in it.

He won't play every game all year and this can be an opportunity to blood a new centre either alongside him or in his place with his support. That's an opportunity for a long-term gain.

I think this is a really important point. We have a bunch of outside backs that are all around 20-23 and they could do with the experience of a player like Mad Dog to help mentor them.

Oh and Alex, Wendell Sailor. Dragons minor premiers with a 30 something winger. If it's good enough for Bennett and Smith/Stone, it's good enough for me.

I've said more than enough on this topic. You guys obviously feel that it is fine to let him keep playing until we discover he's too old and then cut him. I'm saying at some stage we have to look forward to the future and if we feel that his spot in the 25 should be taken by someone else for the good of the future of the club then that is what has to happen.

I'm realistic enough to know that it wont happen next year purely on the basis that we have no other options. I hope he doesn't embarrass both himself and the club, and doesn't result in the club progressing backwards.

I'm just saying at some stage we have to look forward rather than rely on what we always have.

Brilliant side, but i have to say the drafting our players into the local comp has been an outstanding success. The guys obviously love playing for local sides and are really becoming part of the town. We have a team of imports, but in lot's of ways they are closer to the Newcastle community than any side we have ever had because they are playing and socialising with locals.

I would understand this if the bloke was playing bad football. But he seems to just get better with age hes played 15 or 16 games this year i think we should do everythimg possible to make sure hes here next year.

I just think we should pick our best team regardless of age.

Pete or Doogs, whoever is better at the time.

The only drama I have with your comments is calling Doogs mediocore.

To be honest, he has been anything but this season.

And he most certainly did dominate Morris once this season. Doogs v Morris is 1-1. He has demolished everyone elso on your list.... mediocore?

You'd have a state of origin prop on the bench while having Taufua and a 2nd rower in houston in the front row in front of him?

So who is ready to make the big step up next year then?

Will we see Tovo and Mike alot more next year or they'll still have to bide their time? Will Pete Mata'uai make his debut? If yes where and when do you guys think?

i think we'll see more of all 3 of them next year in first grade yosh. i think pete will be eased in slowly... and i think tovo and mika will be used to plug gaps when necessary. tovo may have a chance to snag a permanent bench spot if a prop or 2 go down.

i think we'd need a lot of injuries in the back row before mika would get a serious look-in for the top 17 week to week.
