BunniesMan,
let me be the first to congratulate Souths on their numbers.
Great stuff , even though some of their members wouldn't know Wally Lewis from Ziggy Niszcot. (Oprah, Leno, etc)

Also, St.George Illawarra, excellent job. Expected after their premiership success, and may I suggest the limited seating at Kogarah would no doubt make it more important for some members so as to ensure a regular grandstand seat.

I agree with BunniesMan; Cronulla and Raiders are disappointing.
The Monaghan incident must have taken a huge toll.
Hopefully their numbers will rise soon as a big year is expected.

Penrith always surprises me. A largish region with a huge amount of juniors but have limited members and fans.
Anyone from Penrith on here? What's the deal? Do a lot of Penrith people go for other Sydney teams?
It's got to do with so many footy fans in the area going for other teams. 3 examples in here Flapper, Thomo4pm & Dave Q for whatever reason follows other teams yet live in the junior district here. The prices haven't gone up for 4 years. I sit on halfway line next to tunnel & it costs me $240. The task is to get Every person in a Penrith shirt or hat to turn up to the games. The best 1 to ask is Claws Panthers given he works on the membership team. He might know if there is any membership drives coming up. I do know every Thurs nite 2 players sign people up in Penrith Westfields

I'm all for the Bears to come back in, but you can't compare the Bears memberships, some of which are for more than one year (i.e. not an annual outlay) plus some are very cheap ($20) and thirdly the excitement of getting behind a new team.

Fair play to the Bears, but I think it is comparing apples and oranges.

Cronulla's a bit of a worry given they made a few new signings, new coach, announcements about a few big financial deals & they finished off the season reasonably strongly. You'd think there'd be a buzz around the place.

I wouldn't stress too much about the Sharks, Raiders and Knights yet.

Just to compare their total numbers at this same time last year with this year:

Knights:
Currently: 5,501
Last Year at this time: 4,300

Sharks:
Currently: 2,767
Last Year at this time: 1,800

Raiders:
Currently: 3,822
Last Year at this time: 2,700

So provided all three of these clubs get the same kick as they did last year heading into the season, they are actually on track for growth which is good.

Remember out of the 140,000-odd thousand memberships that were sold last year, around 50% of them were sold between February and April.

I swear those numbers have changed from what was originally posted on the NRL website.

Broncos only had 81% this afternoon.

My parents moved from the Inner City suburbs of Sydney just before I was born to Penrith.
My mum was always a massive Dragons fan, and my dad a Roosters fan.
Luckily mum got me wearing the Dragons gear from the age of 2, and it stuck.
I have a soft spot for Penrith, but that generation (my parents generation) I don't believe is an excuse that can be used any longer.
My parents moved to Penrith in 1975, that's now 36 years ago.

Penrith with the kids (going by my kids friends at their schools), have a big following, they just can't convert it into memberships for some reason.

To be honest I would love nothing more than for Penrith to be number 1 in terms of memberships, and for Rugby League to kill off every other sport out here. My 2 boys both play in the Penrith Junior League, and I want to see Rugby League destroy the AFL's attempts at coming in and getting a foothold out here.

Exactly. Many are like yourself. The new areas like Ropes crossing etc are getting new people to the area but they bring their teams support with them fair enough it's a free world. I see plenty in hats, shirts etc but just don't go to the games for whatever reason. Prices have stayed the same for 4 years. Its good value aswell. I sit next to the Tunnel for $240. I have sat there for 10 years as a kid got so many autographs kids would love that. Just don't know why the don't go
