Boxing would make 50 times as much money compared to the UFC.
While I agree that MMA is rising in popularity massively and boxing's interest is waning big one as well, the 2 still have a long long way to go before they switch places
In the money stakes, yes, but that's all that is.
Where popularity is concerned, boxing more and more has nothing in the west. It's just a matter of time. The two have already switched places when you look at people 30 year old and under. It's a matter of a tick and tock, with every passing second boxing is losing massively to MMA. In 20-30 years time, boxing in some respect will be primarily a sport for pensioners and near-pensioners. Unless there's drastic changes to the way the sport is run.
MMA, notably the UFC, are doing everything right. The discussion is over on that front. It's not a matter of it for MMA, it's a matter of when. You couldn't possibly argue the MMA isn't going to overtake boxing, unless you live under a rock.
Boxing needs to get its shit together. Huge pay packets and token PPV sales mean bugger all in the grand scheme of things, in popular culture boxing is dying a death.
