    18th club, whose next?

I was reading an article by Ross Gittins in the SMH recently and I was stunned to read that the NZ economy only attracts on average about $2b direct foreign investment a year. I was so shocked that I looked up how much Oz gets. We`re getting north of $200b+. That says a lot about the strength of...

    18th club, whose next?

It certainly is out of character, bi-polar springs to mind.

You really are on a high aren`t you. Post after post of being upbeat. Be careful mate, remember the greater the highs the deeper the lows. I wouldn`t go counting your chickens just yet.

    2023 TV/Fox/Streaming Ratings

Women`s Origin 1 was such a poor quality game, (and I mean women`s fumbleball quality bad) I think a lot of people would have been sceptical about the what the quality of game 2 would be like. This may have deterred some viewers. Keep up the quality of last night`s game and the viewers will...

    18th club, whose next?

Of course they shouldn`t but if such a conservative approach avoids the fiasco of the ego driven optimism in some of the expansion efforts of our rival, then so be it. Good thing is, if structured right, the new license can always ditch the junior partner if they outgrow them.

Noted that myself. Shows there`s a strong demand from corporates for red-blooded sports like League. Many business types see this as an extension of their company ethos and some macho fantasy about the corporate world.

    18th club, whose next?

I wouldn`t be surprised if V`landy`s pointed them in the direction of both the Bears and Newtown. We know in his own way he`s very conservative and he may see linking them with a traditional club as a better way to ensure their survival. If they outgrow them, well, that won`t be the NRL`s problem.

    18th club, whose next?

    1) If it`s genuine it would be a bloody sight cheaper to run a reserve grade team out of Sydney; or possibly, 2) Could be a tactic being used by Perth to get the Bears to back off a little with their demands as well. Personally, I just hope Perth are wealthy enough to stand on their own two...

    Peter V'landys - New NRL/ARLC Chairman

If my maths is correct, $25m in 1995 is about the equivalent of, or to put it another way, would have the purchasing power of $100m in today`s money, not $50m.

    Peter V'landys - New NRL/ARLC Chairman

    Australia`s population 1995: 18m 2023: 26.5m. Increase ~50%. Crowds 1995: 13.9k 2023: 19k. Increase ~36%. Would appear that crowds were probably better on a per capita basis in 1995.

Either way mate, I`m just stoked that it really looks like it`s going to happen within the next few years.

That wasn`t what I was suggesting. But it does sound like they are definitely going to put some funding around it to get it up.

    18th club, whose next?

You should be absolutely stoked with that article released earlier today, it all but confirms we are going to have a W.A. Gov`t. backed team in the NRL. And if you hadn`t read the article with such a jaundiced eye you may have noticed it said that "an official proposal " from the W.A. Gov`t was...

God you`re a hoot, one minute your finding the negatives in a very positive statement, then your bragging about your Qantas food and complaining you can`t watch an NRL game on the plane and now this, mate, you`re all over the place.
