    Peter V'landys - New NRL/ARLC Chairman

The ARLC is a not for profit organisation. Profit isn't a wise metric. Revenue and assets are more appropriate. I would say yes the chairman hugely influences the revenue of the game. The commission set the strategy for the game including KPIs. The CEO merely implements it. The chairman is...

    Peter V'landys - New NRL/ARLC Chairman

Well the chairman is the head of the commission. The comparison to the AFL is justified for the broadcasting deal. But not for much else.

    Peter V'landys - New NRL/ARLC Chairman

A criticism of Vlandys is not an endorsement of AFL. They're mutually exclusive.

    Peter V'landys - New NRL/ARLC Chairman

The clubs bullied Grant into giving them $3m over. They're just doing the same this time round. Ordinarily Vlandys would fight it but his lack of transparency regarding revenue is gonna come back and bite him.

Followed a close second by Earling Haarland esp pre Man City. Some absolute zingers there.

Fair point on non compete vs. right of first refusal. I get where you're coming from now. My bad. My view was if there would be a clause in the contract saying that if the NRL created any new product, they couldn't tender that out to new parties. Even AFL with NAB cup or AFLX was not tendered...

So Fox and Nine who have a team of lawyers advising them on broadcast contracts did not include a clause saying that if the NRL creates a new product or competition, they don't have rigjt of first refusal for broadcasting that new product?

What's the trends / observations on migrants and rugby league. Back in the day, alot of the Lebanese, Italians, Greeks etc got into the sport (and AFL in Melbourne) but that was with very limited options. I can't say that new immigrant group like Nepalese, Indians, Chinese, Sudanese and...

We've flogged this horse well and truly to death. I am firmly on Wookies and PRs side, but it's all out of our control now. I'd say give Vlandys one last shot to fix it, but that won't be for a number of years. We survived the SL war, we can survive this. Of course we are going to be...

I wouldn't be surprised if that's how the discussions actually went. Vlandys tried to include a clause in the new deal that NRL would be best paid out of all codes. Obviously that was struck out, so he's [Vlandys] relying on Goodwill. However, the likelihood of both Vlandys and Fox Management...

    Confirmed Signings

According to the News Corp report, Munster rejected a four-year contracted offer from the Dolphins worth $5.6 million. Huge call by Munster. Good on him for staying loyal. Hopefully he can reel off one more premiership before he retires.

Both Smith and Vlandys were in the wrong. The AFL has shown us that you need to give all the rights up at the same time and run a hot auction process. No point in having FTA or Fox locked into half the content and negotiate the other, it diminishes competitive tension. So we'll just have to wait...

    Redcliffe Dolphins recruitment targets

Can see there a hard working team. Should finish around 10th to 12th. Will win respect with effort but need a few marquee signings to gain some excitement.
