    Diversifying Rugby League - NRL

Most Indian migrants are certainly middle class / working class from regional areas. Same with Nepalese and Pakistani / Afghanistani. In those parts of the world, if you are upper middle class or higher class in terms of wealth, typically there is no need to leave the country as you have an ease...

    Diversifying Rugby League - NRL

I'm sure it was the same with football and Italians / Greeks etc.

The Game Future NRL Stadiums part II

It's the common sense approach. A defaulted stadium promise against the AFL isn't really reason to celebrate. Us NRL fans in Sydney have seen the same happen to rectangular stadiums, and it's not great.

    First coach sacked 2024

Brad Arthur. If they move on say a Bennett then his position becomes untenable

The Game Future NRL Stadiums part II

Some talk on the radio today that Minns will consider a roof on ANZ stadium after one of his MPs saw the stadium in Vegas and with potential delay to Taylor Swift concert due to weather in Sydney. Apparently Minns was quoted as saying it's subject to costing but also said it could be justified...

2024 TV and Streaming Ratings Discussion

Amazing ratings and incredible publicity. Question: how long before the AFL copy us?

If it’s Perth PNG & NZ, then what order will NRL choose?

Hopefully there is no super rugby feel to the NRL with too many international teams. Will need to be managed

    Peter V'landys - New NRL/ARLC Chairman

It's been the best build up the an NRL season kick off that I can remember. Maybe since 1999 when they got something like 100k people to a double header kick off at the Olympic stadium

    PNG's back.

To be clear, I don't support PNG. At all. However, if it going to happen irrespective, then it needs to be viable.

    Peter V'landys - New NRL/ARLC Chairman

The North of England is a very volatile region. Mass unemployment and socio-economic issues. A large population with xenophobic views that might have sympathy with right wing nationalists like Russia. We should convince Albo another round of soft diplomacy is needed in the region and get the...

    PNG's back.

On a serious note, Raiders have issues getting NRL players to move to Canberra. Who t f is moving to PNG? If no players move there, then either don't give them a licence or get used to their QLD cup side being lapped by 70 points each week

I'd punch you in the dick, but id probably a massive cl*t instead

    PNG's back.

Players going to NZ pay less tax than in Australia. When they buy and sell a house there, theres no tax nor stamp duty. Same with shares etc. Other clubs don't have a choice in it, it's a government tax issues. Hypothetically if PVL said it's either tax free salary or we'll give team PNG double...

    PNG's back.

The loss of tax revenue would be to the PNG government. Aus government would indirectly underwrite alot of this though. I might be the minority but there is merit. For example, if I was asked to relocate to Port Moresby away from the lifestyle of Australia, I would want at least 10x my current...

    Paul Kent ?

Will be good to his whether Paul fires up next time there's a player in a similar situation be it a drunken night out or a JDB situation

    Peter V'landys - New NRL/ARLC Chairman

Good result. I'll reserve my judgement until the next TV deal but certainly NRL looking in great shape. If Vlandys does a deal in excess of the AFL, then he can declare it to be the number 1 code. Until then, let's keep chipping away and worry about our own backyard.

Next TV deal discussion 2028 -

https://www.afr.com/companies/media-and-marketing/the-executives-making-the-nrl-vegas-trip-for-a-schmoozefest-20240216-p5f5ky Doesn't say too much that isn't already covered by current discussions. But seems to suggest a bearish environment approaching to negotiate TV rights for NRL.
