    Norths vs Newtown

The biggest NSW Cup game I remember @ Henson Park a crowd of about 3000 about 3 years ago v Parramatta. Steve Helmich promoted it. Guess the crowd or bring a friend day ? Can't recall what the day was promoted as but it was great. I was at the 0-0 game. It was pouring rain. We should have won...

    can u help

See the attached link. It lists Newtown scorers . A search may locate the 3 guys you are looking for. I think Henry Holloway played in the good Newtown sides of the 50's . Nickname Pony & coached Valleys to a few premierships in the Brisbane comp. Brian Blowes played late 60's & early 70's I...

    Newtown history.

Thanks for sharing this Chelseabree. I was at the 1-0 game . It wasn't much of a game. My dad was at the 55 grand final & knew Bobby Whitton quite well. I was also at the 0-0 game v Canterbury on a wet day at Henson Park.

    Jamie Soward Released

I'm disappointed that Newtown lost Lewis & Soward. I think it shows poor management from the Roosters. On last years form Lewis was so far in front of Pearce it wasn't funny. I think that Lewis & Soward should have been given more opportunities in first grade. Mind you it is tough being a half...

    Fan Day

Just wondering what the line up was for the touch footy game ? I was there but watched from a distance as had to keep an eye on my little bloke. I noticed Sigsworth, Baumgart, Danes, Fleming. Who was the blonde guy is he the same guy who sits on the bench getting messages from the coach ? As a...

    Raper, The Imposter

I think it is time to move on Johnny Raper went to Saints over 50 years ago. If he wears a Jets TShirt it is good publicity for the club. You can't get upset about every player that left the club it is a professional sport. Johnny Raper was raised in Newtown ( went to St Joseph's Newtown School)...

    Chicka Moore

Spotted in the Sunday Telegraph that Chicka had suffered a heart attack a few days before Christmas. I'm sure all Newtown supporters wish him a speedy and full recovery.

    Newtown scrap Jim Beam

Just as a mattter of interest how much does it cost to put a Jim Beam Cup tem on the paddock ? I guess the decision looks set in stone but anyway of raising revenue to field a team ? I've always thought a summer rock concert at Henson would be a great revenue raiser for Newtown. However the...

    Good luck on the Weekend

Just wanted to wish both the Newtown best of luck on the weekend. I am away in the USA & disappointed to miss the match. Congratulations to the players & coaching staff on a fantastic effort. I was at the 1981 grandfinal & our Reserve Grade Premiership in 74 & hope we add some more trophies to...

    Graham Wilson Vale

Sorry to hear about the passing of Graham Wilson. I remember my father taking me to Newtown games as a youngster in the early 60's & raving about him . He was a big red head guy who was very difficult to tackle. He toured with the Kangaroos in 1963 & transferred to Cronulla when they started...

    Bluebags thrash the Panthers

I had a look of my copy of Out of the Blue by Terry Williams last night and there were 3 records from that game v St Mary's on the weekend. 1. Biggest score by Newtown 64 . 2 Biggest margin 56 previous record 51 v Illawarra . Most points by an individual player Natahn Merrett 40 points 5 tries &...

    Jim Sedaris!

I saw Sedaris at the Roosters game at Henson Pk with his dad so not sure if he would be fit enough to play. A rumour circulated last yr that he would play for us but he had chronic knee problems & could not play. Also spotted Riddell watching the Jets at the Manly game .

    This week vs. Norths

I was at the game on Saturday & the thing I noticed about Newtown's defence was that it was too compressed. Norths had overlaps everytime they spun it wide . In one instance Cooky had 3 Bears competing for a kick with him. Hoping Alf comes back soon.

Who was your best On Saturday?

It was a real team effort . Our defence was fantastic Saints were camped down in our 22 for the first 20 minutes of the 2nd half & could not score. It was a real gutsy performance. We lost the ball early in the tackle counts on occassions & put extra pressure on ourselves. I thought Newtown was...
