i've lost all interest in HIMYM. First 4 seasons were very good but they stretched it too far and it just went downhill from there. Season 9 is good though.

(Spoiler alert)

I was a little disappointed as I thought Ted would've met her by now. They've just showed a glimpse of them into the future. The Marshall storyline about getting to New York was just a time filler IMO - pretty annoying.

I'm hanging out to see what the heck eventuates at the train station, and what the darn yellow umbrella has to do with anything. I don't know how this season will stretch over the wedding unless they cover 1 hour every episode, eg 12 hours before the wedding, then 11, then 10 hours etc... - I'll be even more disappointed if that's the case.

I'm also wondering if they'll explain how the mother was in Ted's first uni lecture, and also if she was in the apartment that she shared with that Rachel Bilson chick.

Marshall and Lilly are just pointless characters at this point. Lilly especially hasn't had a solitary decent scene in about 4 seasons (or whenever it was that Marshall's dad died). I'd much prefer if their scenes simply weren't in it.

I'll watch the rest of the season but honestly not seeing how too much can develop from here. Given we all know it is a happy ending for everyone (they are all obviously still married to each other for a long time after the wedding) there really isn't much to build towards.

Still, this is probably the last remaining sitcom that I enjoy so even with all its formulaic humour and predictability its still great

It's been a hard slog getting through the last few seasons to get to this point, but it's nice seeing some things being tied up and some old favourites in line to make returns as the show ends.

What others have said about Marshall and Lily is dead on. I don't know what happened to them, but they just ran out of ideas for the couple. Their break-up/reunion remains one of my favourite storylines from the whole show, so to see them reduced to baby jokes and parodies of themselves is really said to me. No wonder Segal wanted out.

I can't be bothered watching the end of last season so I am tossing up if I should just start at the start of this one. Last few seasons have been a chore at times.

The Ted & Lily storline from last nights Ep was pretty good.

Made me remember how poor the last few seasons have been. Basically Lily & Marshall remake wacky parenting comedy circa 1986

I'm mostly annoyed at the lack of Mother in these newer episodes. I thought the whole 'Robin has no chick friends' plot would introduce her to the Mother, but instead we got my lame Lily crap.

I really want to enjoy this last season because the first few seasons were so thoroughly enjoyable. But the characters have largely become caricatures of themselves and it's really hard to give a damn anymore.

Only just getting to season 9.

The taped laughter that is in this season wasnt in every season was it?

Was far too obnoxious. Wife and I debated about its existence before season 9. Anyone know?

The show has worn out the laugh track from season 1... you just don't tend to notice it when actually laughing at the jokes yourself. Hence why its so noticeable in season 9. I have barely cracked a smile 7 episodes in.

Seriously, where the f**k is the mother? Was in episode 1, befriended Lily, then has just f**ked off the rest of the weekend? Not even at the pre-wedding drinks, instead we are treated to yet another "Ted tells his kids about trying to screw a stranger" storyline.

I also can't even decide who is more annoying now out of Lily and Marshall or Robyn and Barney. Seriously all the characters just flatline in every goddamned scene.

I haven't really seen a show crash and burn this hard in its final season since Friends. Well, Scrubs maybe but season 9 of that show was really more like season 1 of a spin off.

As far as I'm concerned, Scrubs ended at the end of the eighth season. The next season they made I consider a spin off, and one that I hate to associate with the rest of the series.

Apparently, the mother is in the new episode airing in a few hours. We'll have to wait and see if this eventuates.

I think I'm the same as most people on here, I loved this show but had given up on it a quarter of the way through season 8 as it simply wasn't funny anymore - and to be honest - I don't care about the storyline of who the mother is, I watch the show for laughs.

My girlfriend kept watching it though so I ended up watching it half-heartedly whilst I browsed the internet on my phone. It has been slightly better in season 9, but geez this show should have ended. It's such a shame to see good shows go for too long. Unfortunately, it's the norm.
