I reckon if Atkins didn't get that down it could of gone close to being a penalty try as the Cowboys winger (Henry) tackled (pushed) him in mid air towards the sideline.
Yeah well I was thinking that but it's also possible he would have been out of touch anyway.
He was always going to get the try either way, though Cows were disallowed one from benefit of the doubt also that was just as convincing if not more.

Fug me what a debut for the kid - straight into the record books for both GC and the NRL... well done son!

He won't be in first grade long.

Wrong defender I've ever seen.

Also 3 of those 4 tries were completely scored by the inside man, and anyone(even a 90 year old man with a broken leg) would have scored them.

what he did was legal, if Henry had of caught the kick and Aitken tackled him in the air, then yes that would have been a penalty, but you can tackle an attacking player in the air.

Credit where credit is due, he scored 4 tries in an NRL match... regardless of how, he got himself in the position to do so and as such his name will be etched in the books. Simple.

As good as the try looked,Jordan didn't actually get it down and he was out of touch also.
But as we know, home town advantages were free flowing last night.

Titans were the better team, but it would be good if the officiating was not one-sided.

The try was fine and the officiating was fine. Better luck next week.

Sorry beave but no, you cant tackle any player in the air whether they are on the attacking or defending team. It all comes under the dangerous play rule

Actually I don't think it's laughable at all, watch the slow mo,he quite clearly drops the ball.

The officiating was not fine it was pretty one sided.

bzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz, WRONG.

Section 11, pg 1,

Mid Air tackle-It is illegal to tackle an opposing player attempting to field a kick whilst the player is mid air. The catcher must have returned to the ground before before being tackled. APPLIES ONLY WHEN A PLAYER FROM THE NON KICKING TEAM CATCHES THE BALL ON THE FULL.

Case closed.

Ha ha ha ok mr size 6 font, fair enough. Although I find it hard to believe that a player who takes out an attacking player without making an attempt at the ball when it is in mid air not being penalised for it under the misconduct/dangerous play rules (section 15).

However to get back on topic it really doesnt apply to Atkins's try anyway as he wasn't taken out by the opposing player.

:D

obviously if you nail a guy jumping for his own teams kick and you slam him mid air and he goes past the horizontal/dangerous position, then you will cop a penalty against you, but other than that he is fair game whilst up there. I suppose it is like the Wing incident last night, nailing a guy while he is half a metre or so in the air and not really bracing himself for a decent hit is within the rules but a dog act none the less.

The officiating was not fine it was pretty one sided.

Considering I watched the telecast and watched the video a countless number of times in my mind he had enough downward pressure to at least constitute a benefit of the doubt ruling. I just hope the video refs remain consistent on those calls.

The officiating was fine, look at your team before you begin critizing the officials and you'll begin to see how many times O'Donnel and the like let down your team by giving away silly penalties.

And I was at the game...on that corner,he didn't get it down.
But hey,I was fine with that however considering he disallowed a try that one of the Cowboys clearly grounded and again clearly benefit of the doubt I don't think he was consistent.

I'm not talking about that.
I'm talking about offside,in which we were penalised repeatedly for but the Titans weren't,again I was at the game and this was clear as day.

It's pretty obvious they got the home ground advantage.
I'm not making excuses for my team,we lost but to say the officiating was fine is a pretty big joke.
And by the way, save me the lectures - you are on just the same ground as me on opinion so save the condescending bullsh*t.

I felt the ref was kind to us but so what - I am sure we will get our share of the reverse during the year plus it ain't gunna be changed. I thought the pace and execution of the game from both sides was great. Here are my negatives: Charlie Webb is still living off his SOO moment imo and PC lead the errors, missed tackles and rushes of blood too - get him onto the bench, please.

Than let me say what I want to say without getting all agro okay?

I'll concede the Titans got a few favorable penalties however by you saying Atkins dropped the ball simply because you were there is utter bullsh*t. Although I doubt you'll share the same unbiast opinion of my own (who supports both QLD sides) by watching the replays to me it seems obvious he had enough downward pressure.

Good luck against the Tigers.

I'm not biased,I usually do not bring myself to complain but it really irked me.
I was happy to let that try through, but the vid ref didn't have the same consistency at the other end.
It's not even about my team getting the wrong end of the stick,it's the disappointment that yet again refs are going to be controversial in 2008.
I guess that's expected but y'know I thought something would have changed in the centenary year.

Which call are you refering too? What did they call up? For some reason my memory seems a little fuzzy.

One of the Cows players pushed through to the tryline and the ball touched the ground briefly,it was a case of benefit of the doubt but it was denied.

Are you refering to this?

5 min: HELD UP! Ashley Graham from the Cowboys forcing his way over the goal line but held up by a desperate Titans' defence.

If so  There is no way he got that down. He was well held up.
