Fair dinkum, how ordinary were the Storm tonight? The Raiders played out of their skin and all Canberra fans should be mightily impressed with the performance they came up with.

The ref didn't cost the Raiders the game, Superboy Carney did when he failed to find touch when they led 16-4. He finds touch, they probably go close to scoring in the ensuing set.

True, you cant help but wonder what would have been if the best no try went the other way, particularly given our record against the storm in recent times

In fairness Victor, the video ref - Harrigan? came up with the correct decision. There was deadset a millimetre in it, but Best's arm came into contact with the touch in-goal line just before he put the ball down.

If my team was in a similar position, chances are I'd be saying what you are now, but the fact is I'd be wrong.

I know plenty are expecting me to launch into what is no doubt another tirade against probably the worst referee to ever be handed a whistle.... but I don't want to detract from what was, all things considered, a marvellous performance from the boys. They deserved to win that one, but those are the breaks I guess.

Full credit to the Storm, they never gave up. When I saw how desperate they were to get to the scrums to stop the clock right at the beginning of the first half, I was worried that we might be out-enthused towards the end. I guess it happened, but despite some doubtful calls, we still should have done enough to win. Carney should have found touch. Best, while a good shout for BOTD, should have known better and tucked his arm in just that little bit more.

But I'm staying positive. That sort of performance should be the catalyst for the rest of our season. The impact of a player like Alan Tongue or Lincoln Withers cannot be understated. With them in the team, we win and win well tonight. Combined, they make over 100 tackles each week. Without one we're a chance, but without both it's extremely difficult. Nobody else in the team come close with workload in defence, and it showed with how tired they were towards the end of the match.

Congratulations Storm, and the rest of the competition watch out. The Raiders are no easy beats this year.

Oh and those pathetic attempts at baiting and calling me out... grow up children. Whilst I'm thrilled that I've had such an impact on you all, it's really rather boring.

Its a bitter pill too swallow, but we'll be better for the effort anyway

I can understand why Raiders fans would be upset over the Best decision however it appeared his hand was well on the touch line as he was scoring - suggesting it had touched before hand. Tough but certainly not disgraceful.

Decided last minute to go to this game and it was worth it, some good football. The Raiders were the better side overall but Melbourne still managed to beat them mainly through the class of Slater. The Raiders gave themselves no chance in the second half giving away far too many penalties. I wasn't impressed with Carney, why he kicked ahead for Milne when Slater is at fullback I'll never know. BTW I couldn't believe the size of Falou in person, he is a man mountain and still only 18! Loved his one handed take for a try off Cronk's kick.

Where was Carney in the second half? Badge really tried to talk him up in the post game show but jeebus, Mick Dobson looked a thousand times the player Carney claims to be in that second half.

Arm definitely out, ball still up/ not grounded , clearly evident on high angle replay during post match summary with Gary Bitcher, Gordy & Whizz

So you cant accept this

But swallow this?

I would love to see Finch's explaination on Harrigan's green light when if it was any other team it would probably not have been awarded.

There were a few dubious calls in the game, most of which went against the Raiders. The referee will always be in question by the unfavoured side for different calls they make during the game but I don't think the referee directly affected the result. That's an effort to be proud of for the Raiders fans regardless of how the referee saw things.

Thats what I was trying to say, but someone wanted a niggle...lol.

Just hope we see more of those performances this year
