I think the majority of the Raiders players played pretty well, Thurling and Campese were excellent. I've never seen the Tigers forwards play so well though. Ellis really adds something else.

I'd say;

3 - Ellis
2 - Campese
1 - Heighington

Great win by the Tigers. No referee decisions can outweigh the Raiders inept performance no matter how hard Raiders fans try to point the blame at them.
Oh well, someone has to keep the Knoughts company whilst they have another crack at the spoon.

how's ellis going?

He played very well spud, his first tackle in the NRL was a huge hit on the winger followed by another soon after. Almost scored a try aswell. I noticed he was behind the defensive line sometimes, still adjusting to reading 2nd man plays.

He is a forward i think the Tigers have needed for a long time now.

Will become a fave for the Tigers fans no doubt.

Two referees, and neither spotted that Farah obstructed Campese when Payten went over.
Two referees, and neither spotted the Heighington knock on in a set that led to a try.
Two referees, and neither spotted that Tuiaki was held.
Two referees, and neither spotted that Moltzen knocked on before his length of the field try.
Two referees, and neither spotted that Ellis knocked the ball out of Thurling's hand before a regather should have meant a new set of 6.

Two referees... and we're still getting screwed.

Come on be fair. In the first half the Tigers got mugged by the refs. They were getting penalised for the same things the Raiders were getting away with in the ruck. What the hell was that Farah penalty about? How bout the Obstruction that led directly to the first Raiders try? It's also arguable that Tuiaki was held, the players fell off him. It was more like a charge down from Moltzen, charge down is not a knock on. The referees were even in their rubbish calls and even the rubbish ones, most of them could have gone either way.

Upon calming down I think the refs missed a few forward passes from us, so it was a pretty inept performance from the men in the middle.

Just that "try" where he was held about three times hurt us a lot. Still you have to expect the odd bad call. It was a very frustrating half of football from a combination of flat raiders attack, the tigers piling on the pressure (causing the flat attack) and the odd dodgy call from the refs.

Still bring on next week I guess. Maybe we can have two good halves of football

Still, overall a positive performance from the Raiders and we should realistically tear the Roosters apart next week. Just a shame that the better team on the night lost, and not through their own doing.

From where I was sitting, the Tigers should have put 40 on them in the second half. Better team my backside.

Happy with that one. Our forwards look to be a lot better this year. Ellis and Laurie are played that can strike fear into opposition players, Galloway finally showing how much fire is in him. Gibbs played a lot better than previous seasons. Heighington was solid as always, with some good offloads and Payten provides some skill.

Tuiaki and Lawrence have a good combination in attack going. Bit worried about Marshall's kicking though, he crashed and burned twice looking for a 40/20.

Even though the Tigers won, I thought the Raiders were the better side.

The Tigers won on the back of some big plays, by their stars. Apart from Campese, Monaghan and Tongue....the Raiders are a bunch of no names. Although after watching them play tonight, they won't be unknown for long. They looked dangerous every time they had the ball.

I tipped the Tigers to win mostly because the game was at Campbelltown, and the Raiders are usually not all that good away from home. However from what I saw tonight, the Raiders have picked up from where they left off last year. They look to be a very good football team, with plenty of improvement still to come. They'll be tough to beat anywhere this year.

So.....in a sense, that makes the win by the Tigers that much better. I thought they were a bit loose, but they got the win. That's what counts in the end. It's only round one and I'm sure they will also improve as the season unfolds. Well done to both teams.

One more thing.......Ellis looked really good. As long as he stays healthy, he's a great addition to an already strong forward pack.

I thought we looked really good in the first half, because we actually had some ball. I think if we can keep the possession 50/50 we can get into a position to attack and from there I think we can worry most sides. Campese looked great, so did Thurling, but there are a few issues in the side in certain positions that I hope Furner is willing to take risks with.

We were flat in that second half because the Tigers just beat us into the ground. It was a hot evening and the tigers got the roll on at the right time. The tigers were still better when it mattered.

Personally, I liked what I saw from us in attack when we had the ball, especially being round 1, our defence however, as the scoreline suggests, could have been better, but, it is only round 1, skeepe, wait for another few weeks at least before slitting your wrists?

Well done to the tigers for coming back.

The Raiders fell apart in the last 20 minutes of the game. Had bearly any ball which effected them in attack. The Tigers defense improved in the 2nd half while the Raiders one got worst. I really don't know what we did in the off season but our defence outwide hasn't improved from last season.
