Not completely wrong. Panthers have higher level rep players and I admit that I did not take into account those players who were missing, its late at night so I'm not fully on the ball. But I still think we have more experience and dominant players than the Raiders do.

You do appear to blame the refs alot. Its hard to believe that the ref is that against the Raiders. Penrith had a rough trot with the refs last year in several games, but its not like we said, the refs cost us a place in the top 4 or 8.

You seem to think Raiders are top 4 material, so why no top 4 finish since 2003?

Atleast us Panther fans know that we've been ordinary for a while now and don't just blame the refs.

We almost are more than willing to admit than Elliot has been less than impressive and surely its bye bye if this year's another non finals year. Stuff the extra year on his contract if we fail again.

Panthers rep players:
Jennings
Civoniceva
Lewis
Pritchard
Waterhouse

Raiders rep players:
Dugan
Campese
Shillington
Tongue
Harrison
Monaghan*
Learoyd-Lahrs*
Picker*

* = currently injured

You were saying?
Why is your definition of a rep player different for the Raiders? You only named the Panthers International / Origin players, yet you went and named Dugan and Tongue who are at the PM XIII / City vs Country level of rep players. If you include our players with equivalent representative games, we have:

Playing:

Michael Jennings - NSW, Australia
Luke Lewis - NSW, Australia
Trent Waterhouse - NSW, Australia
Petero Civoniceva - QLD, Australia
Frank Pritchard - New Zealand
Joseph Paulo - World Cup 2008 (Samoa)
Sam McKendry - New Zealand Maori 2008
Frank Puletua* - World Cup 2000, 2008 (Samoa)

Injured:
Maurice Blair - Prime Ministers XIII, Dreamtime Team 2008
Daine Laurie - Dreamtime Team 2008

*Extended bench. Might not play.

Yeah it didn't occur to me either that those guys like Paulo and Frank P had played rep. Skeepe will have to accept that we have more rep players now!

Fair enough, let's add Joel Thompson and Travis Waddell for their All Star game and we're back up to 10 each.

Panthers still don't have more rep players than the Raiders whichever way you cut it ;-)

That Panthers forward pack is a hell of a lot weaker than the Raiders forward pack... in fact the Raiders are pretty much stronger right across the park. The only Panthers players who would make it into the Raiders team are Jennings, Civoniceva and Lewis. The rest would be nowhere near.

Hmmm...what would my joint Panthers/Raiders team look like?

1. Josh Dugan (Canberra Raiders)
2. Michael Gordon (Penrith Panthers)
3. Michael Jennings (Penrith Panthers)
4. Jarrod Croker (Canberra Raiders)
5. Daniel Vidot (Canberra Raiders)
6. Terry Campese (Canberra Raiders)
7. Luke Walsh (Penrith Panthers)
8. David Shillington (Canberra Raiders)
9. Kevin Kingston (Penrith Panthers)
10. Petero Civoniceiva (c) (Penrith Panthers)
11. Trent Waterhouse (Penrith Panthers)
12. Bronson Harrison (Canberra Raiders)
13. Luke Lewis (Penrith Panthers)

14. Alan Tongue (Canberra Raiders)
15. Josh Miller (Canberra Raiders)
16. Frank Pritchard (Penrith Panthers)
17. Dane Tilse (Canberra Raiders)

8 Panthers to 9 Raiders. 7 Panthers in the starting line up though. That number would decrease though if Monaghan and Learoyd Lahrs were fit.

As far as the forwards go, Penrith easily have the better pack on paper.

All right, if you are going to go as far as Joseph Paulo for Samoa, then in the Raiders list, pleas add Sam Huihahau. Played for Tonga. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sam_Huihahau

Really what a pointless discussion, I reckon both teams re very evenly matched. It looks as though the Raiders will be targeting Purtell and Elford's side of the ground, whereas the Panthers will be targeting Croker and Robinson's.

Both forward packs look very strong and IMO, the Raiders halves will need to be on song. Marc Herbert needs to put last season behind him and really take some of the pressure of Campo. Otherwise we are no chance this year.

At this point in time both sides look evenly matched with the Panthers backline stronger and the Raiders pack stronger.

It will come down to the coaching of Elliott and Furner. Both love to employ the most geniused game plans I have ever seen, with Elliott just edging out Furner as the more geniused of the two.

If Canberra had Monaghan, Learoyd Lahrs and Carney available, I think we'd win quite comfortably. Having said that, I have absolutely no expectation on Canberra whatsoever to win this game.

The reason those two are in the starting line up is because they are very soud defensively, they won't score many points though...

you obviously haven't seen much of purtell then

the ball will be kicked behind these two all day; they have the turning speed of the queen mary

Why are you other Raider's fans saying penrith dont have a good pack? If Pritchard fires that pack is awesome and very well balanced. Luke Lewis is a gun and should be picked in the NSW team before any of the Raiders fowards, we all know about petro, Waterhouse is consistantly good, Pritchard is a freak when he turns up.
They also have a halfback who will control the game unlike the Raider's.
As a Raider's fan i am not confident at all. For us to win Campese and Dugan will have to play at their best

Well I watched Elford all of last season and watched them both in the trial games and they looked very solid. I suspect you are just making assumptions out of thin air...

I'm pretty sure Sam Huihahau is no longer a Raider.

But you're right there is little seperating two sides.

I think the changes made to the Raiders will see them behind the eight ball.

My biggest worry for this game will be sitting in the grandstand.

f**kwit Russell Smith is the same man that perpetrated that disgusting robbery at CUA last season.

A repeat performance on Saturday and the Panthers will win no matter whether they deserve it or not. Smith's incompetence certainly saw to that last year. I can't believe they gave the same f**kwit the same game.
