The Cairns solution was re player recruitment. Its going to be a damn hard sell getting 30 NRL players to relocate to Port Moresby. Even if they do build them an armed resort to live in.
Will just play in PNG. Living in Cairns is option.

As it should be. They should assess what the Perth bid is offering then determine if they feel they can be successful alone or if they can only be successful with a link up. That is the fairest way to do it, and if they do it that way and believe a Perth club can only be successful with a Bears link up then I can live with that as I am sure the Perth consortium will. Then the ball is in the Bears court to accept the non negotiables of perth bid as long as they dont contradict theirs ie called the Bears, in red and black and respecting the NS Bears history.
The NSO game should be a purely commercial decision.
Oh yeah, it's gonna be very hard to recruit. But papuans won't be fooled into thinking a Cairns based team is a PNG club. The Cairns solution was re player recruitment. You’re still comparing a rugby nation with an established and existing NRL team and recently created pathways streaming down to junior grades and huge following to a non rugby league state. The NSW Cup is a by product of decades worth of work.I was talking about those clubs in the context of running their own NSW cup sides not having them based in another state/country. If Warriors are managing it there is no reason a Perth club cant.
Wonder how they are going to break the news to them.* PNG are not guaranteed to be the #18th side.
* PNG/Aus Gov/Bid meeting happening later today
And yet he quickly drifted into detail of why Bears proposal makes it sensible. He didn’t even bother to mention Jets because they aren’t in the same post code commercially as Bears are. All points I’ve been mentioning for a week now yet keeps conveniently being side stepped by yourselves. This is encouraging. Perth first, bears or jets secondary.
They won`t. Response in the comments section of The Australian yesterday from Oz exec transferred to New Guinea, wife got to airport at Port Moresby, refused to go any further , took the next flight home. I can only imagine WAGs when they touch down and see that place apart from the brochures. The Cairns solution was re player recruitment. Im talking logistics and cost. Im also talking a hypothetical where its the Perth Bears. There is no need for a Perth Bears to have a NSW cup side run out of NS. If Perth has a NSw cup side in Perth players will move over to Perth for their shot at NRL glory, and it will give the local players the opportunity to develop into NRL players at home. There is no good reason for Perth not to be running a NSW cup team from Perth, if they can afford it.You’re still comparing a rugby nation with an established and existing NRL team and recently created pathways streaming down to junior grades and huge following to a non rugby league state. You cannot compare NZ to W.A. You’re delusional if you think you can.
He said it was 'sensible' not critical. Thats a big shift and first time he has said that. maybe Cumins interview has woken him up?And yet he quickly drifted into detail of why Bears proposal makes it sensible. Even the fact he specifically mentioned the critical areas as to why Bears make sense - (He didn’t have to mention any of it as he wasn’t asked what Bears bring but he mentioned it anyways)
yep, wow indeed!"All the bids are fantastic, it goes to show you how the game is going at the moment. The premier of Perth, I'm taking out an AVO on him," he added jokingly. "He rings me every day asking about a Perth team.
"There's no more passionate supporter than the Premier of Western Australia. Their bid is looking very, very good and maybe PNG isn't the one that's first."
Wow !
100 posts a day. All crapyep, wow indeed!
And all the naysayers are now scuttling around lol
You’re clutching at straws mate. Happy to use one paragraph and not the rest of what he said.He said it was 'sensible' not critical. Thats a big shift and first time he has said that. maybe Cumins interview has woken him up?
He was directly asked 'does a perth bid have to have a link up with Bears or Jets'You’re clutching at straws mate. Happy to use one paragraph and not the rest of what he said.
“Hey let’s build a building but with no foundations, no long term planning, no long term investment strategy, no workers to carry out the work, no advisors to help train the workers that are there, no consultants”
Essentially what PVL said right after the quoted paragraph that old mate posted and conveniently left out is what highlights the need for the critical path.
Mate, you really are slow aren’t you. My god.He was directly asked 'does a perth bid have to have a link up with Bears or Jets'
he replied ' its not critical but would be sensible'.
Thats the black and white of his thinking. It'd be good to have, but not necessary for Perth to get a license.
Sorry if he has burst your bubble that it was Bears or nothing for Perth!
Yes it`s exactly the same sort of language he used a couple of days ago when the backtracking on PNG started " a few years away" which has now turned into an almost complete about-face.He was directly asked 'does a perth bid have to have a link up with Bears or Jets'

thanks for explaining what "sensible" means, now explain what "not critical" means?Mate, you really are slow aren’t you. My god.
Sensible investment is the only investment they’ll make. Sensible investment is the only investment any successful business makes. Rash investment very rarely pays off.
PNG is only sensible because of a whopping $600million commitment. If that commitment isn’t there then it isn’t sensible.
Dolphins was sensible because of an abundance of reasons - take your pick. You’re so caught up trying to one up people and prove you’re right that you cannot see how wrong you actually are.

I wouldn`t be surprised if the W.A. Premier wants nothing to do with the Bears either, wants a unique WA NRL team with an WA identity, almost a legacy project. V`landys is walking a tightrope, Cook wants a team and his support means a host of benefits, V`landys wants Bears, sees the benefits of combating F-ball on the lower north shore and the feel-good factor but doesn`t want jeopardise WA support.
Interesting times.
Not marked by or given to criticism. Not indispensable.thanks for explaining what "sensible" means, now explain what "not critical" means?
