18th club, whose next?

The bears are so rich they should just buy the NRL and give all the licenses to themselves.
You wait until some clubs get into the 21st century and have off set commercial property development sections/ businesses under their overall business model as another source of revenue. NRL looking to buy hotels is small in comparison but it’s a start:

The day clubs own their own stadiums etc might still be far off but it’s closer than it ever was. Some clubs just need to start being a tad more innovative.

So like 90% of the clubs are doing now?

The bears aren't doing anything unique, the only difference is that they don't have an nrl team.

Owning your own training fields and car parks to owning diverse properties at various locations that other businesses rent or usage of said properties to run other businesses not related to the football department are 2 different things. But sure.

He right most clubs already own property assets outside their leagues club

his club has over 100 million in assets

roosters own a block of properties in Bondi junction they will redevelop one day and make hundreds of millions

Didn’t say he was wrong, I agreed with him. That’s why I said some clubs - not all. Just proves the point that there is a certain type of business model that is favoured for the NRL environment.

I’m not debating with Greeno on this though, he is smart enough to know this. I’m stating it for prospective franchises and highlighting that there is still a ways to go. Ideally all clubs having $200m of assets and at least $50-70m of extra cash flow coming in from said assets would be great.

As a comp, we are closer today to that reality than we were yesterday.

Pvl wanted more money out of the Feds

either 50 milion for clubs and or tax concessions for players from the feds
So a deal wasn't agreed upon then. Considering the initial reports about this was the funding on offer was for 300M and was raised to 600M a while ago, seems like that taxpayers teat is gonna get a lot more milking.

It's great you have a direct line of contact with PvL and can feed us these inside scoops...
