NRL doesn't have a draft. That’s the other thing afl does is give priority draft picks to expansion clubs.
Gold Coast has had loads

Spot on, and a draft would be utterly unworkable for the NRL too - young players would take their skills to rugby union, where they'd have more control over their career path.NRL doesn't have a draft.
The broncos have been their team for over 30 years. There's 1.6m people south of the Brisbane River with zero teams.
Using that logic, the Warriors have been South Island's team for 30 years. The broncos have been their team for over 30 years.
Lmao 1000 kilometresUsing that logic, the Warriors have been South Island's team for 30 years.
Warriors have played more home games on the South Island than the Broncos have held south of the Brisbane River since 2003.Lmao 1000 kilometres
they are not the same
Stop it lolWarriors have played more home games on the South Island than the Broncos have held south of the Brisbane River since 2003.
In both cases they were the only "local" team to support for 30 years.

Does Christchurch have the population and infrastructure to support a team? You’re really stretching that logic. You know as we all do that a southern Brisbane team won’t be playing in a southern Brisbane stadium.
Christchurch or a team on another island in this case is a bit different to a side in the same city.
StadiumDoes Christchurch have the population and infrastructure to support a team?
As far as sponsors go, I imagine that some would be competing brands - eg McDonald's or KFC sponsoring NZ 2 to counter Wendy's sponsoring the Warriors.. Spark or 2 Degrees to counter OneNZ.. etc etc.Does Christchurch have the population and infrastructure to support a team?
Christchurch will have a good stadium. The big question is how much support can they generate in an RU city that has just 300k people? As far as sponsors go, I imagine that some would be competing brands - eg McDonald's or KFC sponsoring NZ 2 to counter Wendy's sponsoring the Warriors.. As far as playing infrastructure goes, the new stadium construction is coming along just fine - still on budget & on schedule for 2026. The roof will be a really unique feature, and the atmosphere for the Warriors Christchurch game that year will be amazing.
Did you see ? We are on the verge of a second Cuban missile crisis lolChristchurch will have a good stadium. The big question is how much support can they generate in an RU city that has just 300k people?
