You're a club whore. That's a history to be proud of.No history after 94 either
so basically five good years then nothing

Western Reds perhaps? For me the jets are better than the bears because there should be no requirements for sydney home games but we also don't need another blue side tbh.
Best case is for perth to get their own team, own brand but also the pirates just aint it either. Has to be something different to that.
I doubt the vast majority of targeted audience of the Perth Bears will even be aware of the Sydney links at first.
The ones that already know about it aren’t the target audience.
is the nrl getting genuinely cold feet about png now ? Or is this a bargaining ploy to get more money out of the feds
Outside of some comment on a LU forum, what comment from an official makes you think the Bears are looking to move to QLD after WA?Thanks for your concerns, Manly’s in the NRL, we’re not going anywhere.
What is a concern is WA being done right, not having the Bears bail on it for QLD if they feel the going get tough there.
Can you post the Perth jets article I can’t find itThis article refers to the Commission meeting in Melbourne on the 26th June as deciding on a “bidding process” whilst the Telegraph article about the Perth Jets is a bit more bullish suggesting that they will “finalise their plans for the future “…
Im going to suggest the Telegraph article might have a lot of the Journalist presenting his gut feels as facts …
Instantly the talent pool for SG Ball will double with decreased loses to Union and players moving interstate.
The inclusion of a HM team will improve their skill development and S&C.
SG Ball will have no issue being competitive in 3-5 years.
They certainly will when they notice and ask why their new team is playing 2 "home games" in SydneyI doubt the vast majority of targeted audience of the Perth Bears will even be aware of the Sydney links at first.

pvl leaks to news ltd so these things ususally have some legs
Sounds like a stupid compromise mindsetLets just say, for this example, it takes 10 years for WA pathways to start producing enough quality players in Perth for the bears...
If I was the NRL, I'd let the bears have the Perth licence with the following conditions attached...
- North Sydney premiership history recognised (i.e. swans)
- colours & logo
- They keep their Sydney junior district, but for only 10 years after their readmission. Gives enough time for the Perth pipeline to kick in, then the North Sydney district is divided up by say Manly & Roosters
- They keep their NSO games for 10 years after their readmission. After that, it's 12 games in Perth.
I would prefer them not to be called the Bears ..but can’t all those things be sorted out in advance ?
It’s not a joint venture if the Bears have zero ownership of the Perth team ..just make sure that is the case and thus there is no reason for the Bears to “white ant “ them .. PVL could even set it in stone that if the team fails they won’t be able to be relocated anywhere in NSW and the Bears nickname will no longer proceed further in the NRL …this could be a condition of the agreement to allow them in… even for the Bears themselves to agree to this …give them an incentive to make this second chance an all or nothing for them ..
The WA government needs to enter into contractual agreements with the NRL that in return for say money to fund their C of E and ground improvements that the NRL agrees to like a 20 year guarantee that they remain in Perth subject to some financial penalty otherwise ..in 20 years time we will know whether the team has worked or not ..
I doubt the potential Perth fans over there would really be resentful about the Bears nickname about a team that hasnt been around for 25 years … a lot wouldnt in fact know anything about their prior history about being a “failed Sydney team”…. It would have no negative meaning to the overwhelming majority of the potential fan base ..
If you think this could be an issue that derails the Perth team‘s future it doesnt say much about the strength of the bid … but ultimately I suspect you are jumping at shadows ..
And slapping a Bears sticker on the club won't change that.Fiji have been garbage in Flegg. That is after several years of been in higher grades
There is no way a competitive team will come from WA players alone. The playing numbers just aren't there.
Say we have a 2027 start date.
You are looking at players 15-17 as being targets.
Not sure there are 60 of them lying around, Need to get into schools and build slowly

Five Victorians have played for Melbourne in 27 years and you expect WA to be able to field a whole team or fill a squad in a decade? If there are even two or three West Australians in their NRL team come 2037, they will be doing well.
Do Fiji have a EoC and coaching available to the best talent at 15?Fiji have been garbage in Flegg. That is after several years of been in higher grades

Exactly, that process is important in a new club endearing itself with its potential fans base. That's a big part of the excitement of starting a new club. Engaging with the community (Perth, not Sydney) in choosing the badge, colours etc.
I do like the pirates though.

Not really, there is a lot more involved than that, the Sydney Roosters have been involved on the Central Coast since 2014, in that time only one Central Coast player has made his NRL debut through the Roosters system, Sandon Smith, Prop Fletcher Baker is another Central Coast local who made his NRL debut with the Roosters but he came through the Bears NSW Cup as he was older, he is now at the Brisbane Broncos.Instantly the talent pool for SG Ball will double with decreased loses to Union and players moving interstate.
