Only good thing about the jets is they average 8,972 at Henson park which is more than the bears get
Not really, the Jets only get big crowds when they hold their Beer, Food and Footy Festival.
Henson Park, drinking KB on the hill, with the man on the bike still riding around each time the Jets score.
The Jets (3rd) play the Bears (2nd) this coming Saturday, the Bears have a few players out due to them having hia’s and the Storm also having a few hia’s and calling up a few of the IMG_4703.jpegBears players.
Not sure if the Jets have been effected by the Sharks this weekend ?.

And where will this south brisbane side play? Suncorp is the only place a brisbane side should play.
What is stopping these rugby league supporters from going to suncorp when their team is playing or to any of the 20 games there a year currently?

Why will another team slightly geographically closer to them with no history be needed or even persuade these people to abandon the teams they currently follow if 3 other clubs in close proximity hasn't done it?

Just because sydney is overcrowded doesn't mean we need to do the same in brisbane with small geographically isolated teams.
Obviously Suncorp. Anyone can cross the river. Dolphins and Broncos are both based on the Northside. Nothing is on the Southside. North/South rivalry in Brisbane is a thing

Perth bid hoping Bears talks and Roosters supremo will help gazump PNG push for licence

I recall reading Politis being in Perth a few months ago meeting with business types about drumming up support for the WA bid. I think we can safely assume that Politis- and who knows who else - have been beavering away behind the scenes helping get this thing off the ground.

Exactly, that process is important in a new club endearing itself with its potential fans base.

I never warmed to the "West Coast Pirates" name, I much prefer "The Reds". I get the logic behind the Pirates name. Kids love them, kids also love Bears and Jets.
If it's the Pirates than wins through, then best they emphasize William Dampier, and not the Batavia Mutineers. The latter don't need trivializing.

All that being said, I'll accept the Jets or the Bears. Just like many I have my apprehensions about the Bears, coming from the rhetoric of V'Landys and the media. This top down imposition, the focus on North Sydney rather than welcoming Perth, and home games in Sydney is not getting this relationship off to a good start.
Slow down PR

So if they are to play at suncorp why should they be isolated to a small slice of the city ala cronulla or manly and be consigned to being a small club forever?

Cos people say it's a growth area? Okay, who is providing the growth? Immigrants with no knowledge or affiliation to rugby league?
People who know rugby league who already have a team? Why would they adopt a new unknown team over the other 2 brisbane clubs or the gold coast club south of them?

All I'm saying is right now they don't add anything to the nrl as a whole and are unlikely to become what is needed which is a big club like the broncos.

People need to stop thinking that they can see a part of a city with a big or growing population and think because there isn't a team with their suburb name in the top grade that they have to have an nrl club even while they are served by 2 other clubs.

If the people there follow rugby league than they have every opportunity to see live games in brisbane already.

First leg of the 2024 Frank Hyde Shield on this Saturday as the Bears take on the Newtown Jets at Henson Park.

With two games to decide the Frank Hyde Shield, both the Bears and Newtown should just up the stakes, winner drops out of the race for the Perth license lol.

Jets offer zilch

the funniest thing is the Sydney fans are telling the perf fans how useless they are but perf fans think it’s. better than dealing with a strong bears

can you imagine all the hordes on king st Newtown clamouring to buy Perth jerseys

even if their home crowds are close to 9000
8972 to be exact.... every time

I would like to see the Broncos build their average crowd up into the 40s and Dolphins close to 30k before a 3rd team comes in. If by 2030 that is occurring and it really should be, then sure, bring in Brisbane 3 - Logan/Ipswich or wherever. People on here are obsessed with turning Brisbane into Sydney, it's just not necessary.

Time for the bears to pucker up to Cumins.
