It’s already almost a quarter of a century old so probably more then half way through its life

when it needs a billion dollars for a rebuild the afl will have ruined its balance sheet … if gws or the gcs already haven’t done that
haha it’s got 40 years at least left and they’ve just spent $225mill upgrading at no cost to afl. And if and when they decided to cash out the land value will be hundreds of millions more than they paid. we could only dream about having a relationship with govts as good as that! Vlandys prefers to publicly go in the media and bag off the nsw govt, no wonder we get so little I. comparison to afl

Stadiums are a very bad investment

it’s why governments fund them

even then the roi is terrible

buying a hotel with a ten percent yield in a city which is going to experience a population and Olympic boom

yeh baby

Link?

naming rights $9mill a year
stadium signage $5mill a year
70 plus event rental at min $250k each $17.5mill a year
stadium medallion, gold and centre members $3million a year
food and catering revenue $10million
Function hosting 600 events $5mill

revenue of around $50mill a year for decades to come. Absolute cash cow on a $200mill investment.

this has marvel stadium revenue at $47.4mill a year!
Marvel Stadium currently serves as the busiest multi-purpose Stadium in the world, welcoming over two million patrons through its turnstiles each year - hosting over 70 arena events as well as 600 non-event day functions annually in its function spaces.

Bad luck afl red
You can’t see the difference in a roi of $200mill for a incredibly well used multi function stadium compared to the billion $US plus for one team stadia the article is focused on? You really do struggle in critical thinking lol.

IF NRL had been as smart/Influential/rich as afl then we could have done same deal for commbank and had three nrl teams plus a soccer team and other events going on there.
A $500mill asset on our books and a sht load of revenue coming in from it.
But hey we got a $20mill hotel bringing in a million $’s so all good. At least for small minded people like yourself.

He does tend to write about his favourite sport an awful lot. I wonder why he is here really. He obviously loves afl. He quite clearly despises nrl. Most peculiar

Given where rugby league is right now if your still moaning about the game then it’s probably just not for you

or maybe he’s projecting life issues onto rugby league

it just doesn’t make any sense given how strong the game is

It offends me that you as an AFL fan use 'we' and 'our' to describe rugby league.

The only realistic contenders for the 18th licence are the West Coast Pirates and Brisbane Firehawks. Ipswich Jets and North Sydney Bears are no chance. Jets don't have the money or widespread appeal across metropolitan Brisbane. Bears are not a wealthy club and have priced themselves out of the market.

Jets have region NRL want plus nick Livermore. NRL tried hard to push tigers & jets together. If they put differences aside they get 18th spot
