Why they pay afl overs keep rugby league powerless

but they did kill off Perth before

I don’t think they want to pay the fumblers as much as they do but they force them to by negotiation. We don’t.

I hate that sport immensely and they are not well managed in other ways but they are clearly better than us at such negotiations. We should steal their negotiators or find some from the States. Somebody outside of the game.

There is also the history to consider as well

Go to open market, if we dont get three bidders then we’ve got to ask some really hard questions about why the tv companies don’t value us the same.

get club 18 in for that deal and have plan for introduction of 19 and 20 by time 2033 deal kicks in. Or even better if paramount want to offer same as they did for afl ie $600mill for ten years bite their hand off and use it to get to twenty clubs sooner.

after what news ltd did to the game us being the start of fox downfall by going to a rival would be very sweet!

It’s the history

gill Isn’t a great negotiator he just took over a strong sport and kept it going

rugby league has a lot of politics to sort out and having strong leaders is hard

I get the sense the afl deal was really the first time there was genuine competition for rights. No one has bid competitively like paramount , stan and fox did for either codes rights before.
We saw a 50% increase in nz rights fir nrl due to competition. Afl achieved $550 mill ish largely on the back of that same competition.
we just have to keep our fingers crossed (and should be actively working on them now) that having missed out on afl stan and paramount want to go hard for nrl instead.

Honestly I’m not too fussed about the value of tv deals as long as we keep expanding

let the afl have another ten years of higher revenues who cares

18 to 20 team nrl will be number one soon enough

sigh

Me and the WA govt lol
Theres @TheRam and @AdelaideSharky and their Govt that want a team in Adelaide... thats one more than WA...
But yeah lets ditch the competitions values, members, current fans, for areas that are looking for hand outs to grow there game in their backyard...
Expansion is all about keeping whats there and adding to it... its literally the definition of it, most of these posts past few pages have been against that notion

Didn't Sharks have to sign 3/4 of a spine from other clubs to finally win a comp?
Someone on here said they have 6000 players in the region, WA has 4100. Is it really that impressive after 50 years of an NRL club being there?
Of course it is, extremely impressive considering they are only in sutherland, and are at a highter standard than your 4100 in your entire state

I concur. Why wouldnt they be? They have access to better coaching, better nutritional programs, better elite pathways through the age groups etc etc . But none of that is unique and only available in cronulla. Its simply a matter of funding and opportunity. At the moment our naturally talented WA 16 year olds have 2 choices. Go into RU elite pathways or move to the east coast. There in lies the problem.
NRLWA might be giving you guys as much funding as you want, but you could easily fund prigrams to make your juniors better than they have been, govt or puddy could fund or setup coaching clinics, teaching the locals how to coach at elite levels, bennett has done it over the past year in the areas north of redcliffe... no one is stopping WA from funding their own pathways

So you`re saying that any company that has a product should never venture into a new market. Seriously.
There was an excellent documentary the other night on SBS on Japanese car makers breaking into the American car market. Lot of people said to Honda and Toyota don`t do it, you`re wasting your time, Americans already have their own cars. Those two visionaries didn`t believe them and the rest is history. It was a fascinating watch.

Oh.. I know how this goes.. next step is that Murdoch/News Ltd launches a huge media storm over the NRL administration, triggers a club revolt, and the "problematic" figures are removed/forced to resign.
Where have I seen that before ?
