So I'm not allowed to talk about Perth's lack of juniors, lack of support, geographical isolation and other negatives?

It's all got to be sunshine and lollipops otherwise you have a hissy fit and call people trolls.

Seems perfectly reasonable.
No of course you can, but it’s your opinion and genrally untrue and not as big an issue as you’d like to make it out to be so will get a counter argument.

we have the third biggest participation rate in the country and a record, all be it ltd, of producing nrl players. and that is with zero funding and pathway.

We likely have more support for nrl than canberra it would seem. Are you suggesting canberra shouldnt be in the nrl?

geographical isolation will be probelmatic in signing players for sure. That isn’t insurmountable and needs some different thinking by nrl To make it a successful investment

perth will have many challenges but it still presents the best opportunities for the nrl to grow its national presence, it’s revenue and grow the sport in australia.

Saying reds got a crowd avg of 6k (which is untrue) 25 years ago and this shows no interest in NRL in perth in 2023 isn’t serious, logical or legit. It’s just a typical troll statement thrown out by your like.
Where did I say that?

All of a sudden you're bringing up Canberra crowds to me based on a statement I didn't make?

Seems a reasonable response

Must of been the other one, it’s so hard to tell trolls apart these days. I miss the old ones, they had more finesse.

And plenty of time we do, then along comes the likes of green, pippen, pneuma and gobby To add nothing and just troll. I’ve seen dozens of them come and go over the years.
We’ve been on here discussing expansion for over a decade, nothing much hasn’t been discussed lol

basically the trolls argument, despite evidence to the contrary is
1. Perth is afl and no one likes RL
2. Perth is too far away and costs a lot to get there
3. perth has no rl fans
4. reds were cut so we should never go back
5. perth has no jnrs

pretty much rinse and repeat any of those arguments over the years
You talk about rinse and repeat.
Pokie dens
V'landys blah blah blah
AFL is better blah blah blah
Perth has 6 billion NRL fans and 7 million juniors
You're a troll because you say things I don’t like

Rinse, repeat.

Not true, before the trolls hijacked the place we had many reasonable conversations about the pros and cons of the possible next bid locations.

I agree with you. I think a Perth side should work. The same as I think a second NZ side should work.

I think you overestimate the impact that a Perth team would have though which some people ridicule you about. You also seem to crap on other people’s clubs (including mine) which is uncalled for.

See this is just a classic troll post.

I think it’s fair to compare if someone is holding you to a certain level of expectation. Don’t be crapping on about lack of rl support in perth if your own club draws pathetic crowds. People in glass houses and all that…..

perth will be a challenge in building decent teams, it will have support and finances

wellington will struggle with finances and support Imo but will have stronger player development, if they can keep them from moving to Australia at 15

Adelaide needs a sht load of work and is a long way off but worth a plan

png, won’t happen despite it being amazing if it did and if it could somehow work

brisbne3 is a safe option but adds nothing really to growing the game

pretty much sums up the expansion landscape from my point of view.

Not everyone in Perth is an AFL fan. Just like not everyone from NSW and QLD is an NRL fan. I’d argue that if you combined every single AFL and NRL fan together they’d still likely only be about half the total Australian population. The other half have no interest in either code. They’d each be about a quarter of the total population on their own, about 6 million or so each.

So if you say at best 50% of Perth follows AFL, then that leaves 50% that doesn’t. For a Perth NRL club to have say 20k members and 200k affiliated fans on par with current NRL clubs, you’re looking at need to capture the interest of 10% of the 2 million+ population. That’s certainly achievable.

That said they‘d have to put up with Perth Red at games, and he’ll drive most other fans away.

Alright lets try.

Perth Pros:
4th biggest city in Australia
Population known to support local sports teams
Prosperous city.

Perth cons:
Geographic isolation
Minimal nrl infrastructure and player resources

Thats all I've been saying 🤷‍♂️
Apparently that's trolling.
No what you have been saying is that we shouldn’t introduce a perth team in 2028 because of reds crowds in 1997.
This despite the fact the last ten years have seen a crowd avg in perth for neutral teams of 16.7k It’s either a troll or stupidity. Hard to say.

Well done!

id say our stadium at the moment is a bit of a con as well. It’s fine for fans but doesn’t have the corporate stand it really needs to ensure the club can be financially successful as it could be. It is ok and won’t be The worse in the comp but I’d hope the nrl is pushing the wa govt hard for a new west stand if they are serious about perth. Be good to get to get it up to 25k capacity to make the most of the games that will likely sell out.
