No sorry, no not anti Bears in the media at all, I just have a feeling from Daniel Dicksons comments that Newtown maybe involved in the WA-Bears talks which could be WA-Bears-Newtown talks. Two NSW Cup sides feeding into WA would certainly be better than one.
I think you’ll find Cronulla will have their own NSW Cup side very soon like all the NRL sides are beginning to do.
It's seems that way in regards to NSW Cup sides. Both will need someone to feed to.

Definately this is why I have said the Bears need WA as much as WA need the Bears or whatever feeder club WA decides to go with.
If Newtown jump on board can you imagine the good news story of a WA bid keeping both these Foundation clubs alive.
Newtown have said that they just want to be a feeder club, nothing more nothing less, the Bears want their colours and logo.
Having two games in Sydney would really ramp this up, when Norths play Newtown in the NSW Cup they draw very decent crowds, imagine this game played before a Perth Bears v Manly NRL game, absolute sellout crowd at North Sydney Oval.

Well it seems that the 'non negotiable' games at NSO have been dropped.
Exactly. Perth are in a position where they can play one off against the other.

That way if a Sydney link is really needed to get across the line, they can get the best deal for Perth in terms of branding, home games, ownership AND governance.

Redcliffe I'm rapt in those figures no arguemnt. All I'm suggesting for example If Ipswich given the go ahead, they are called the Jets, Newtown(jets) if they were desperate to fit in could be absorbed into that west Brisbane club.

Easts Tigers can't use that name, taken by Wests Tigers already. If Bears so desperate to get in somewhere as a minor partner (if they can't get into Perff), then Easts if they make the NRL then use the Bears logo.

Look it's out of left field stuff I know, but sometimes things happen not the way we want.

Sponsorship in WA ,can't answer that one but for the NRL with the commercial strength of east coast cities that could induce national companies.Bearing in mind only 1 NRL club not two AFL clubs competing for sponsors.

If the Perth Reds/Pirates/Pumas/Pretenders/Poms can't get decent sponsorship, they should rack off now.

Brisbane sides don't need what bears & newtoen bring

That’s not a very nice thing to call the arlc lol. That’s literally how club 17 was decided. Pick the location then see what bids come in.

Coz there was 3 strong bids in Brisbane. Meanwhile in 1992 the comp selected teams from wa, nz, bris & nth qld..

There are no bids because they haven’t be called.

You might call it semantics but you (or anybody) can’t bid for something that isn’t for sale. You might say I have the intention to bid or I am going to bid but that is all that is happening

No Perth - that's all

It could cause tension where the nrl contracted players go though. Splitting them up does the players no good and snubbing one club decays the purpose of have two feeders. Wests Tigers had issues with this year's ago. Luckily balmain went bust.

Nor is location irrelevant to a bid. It is actually a key aspect of a bid: demographics, population and growth rate, income per capita et al would factor in the business case and the ability of a club to grow.

The argument that somehow a bid is seperate to the location is rather perverse.

No, it's just a small factor overridden by whether bid team is competent or not. Titans had city of 700k & grand plans but that came unstuck. Financially secure backer is top priority

I disagree with it being a minor consideration: you should have sides where most of the population is or going to be and where they can properly support a side

Well, Townsville still exist, but reds & crushers went down drain, so there goes that theory

The bids come after the location, the nrl will determine which location Is strategically important then canvas for viable bids from that location. If you think they are just going to throw open club 18 bidding to any location you’re as delusional as pippen!

We all knew bombers, tigers & dolphins were bidding before ntl made announcement. Didn't work that way before huh?!

Averaging 15k in a non RL area, which is more then half of the NRL would be the very definition of game changer.

Are you on stupid pills today?

Means nothing. How much does team bring yo broadcasting deal?! Does fox pay for expansion?! How much money does new club need to spend to reach that number?!

I'd say Perth looked at the way in which the Dolphins had existing brand appeal/support and how it helped convince the risk-averse NRL management.

Someone was running an NRL related survey in the Perth market recently. It was potentially either the WARL or NRL. I wouldn't be surprised if one of the questions was about a Perth team being linked to an old NRL/NSWRL club.
