Labels mean nothing tho, just coz penrith sided with SL doesn't mean they ended up any better off than the clubs who sided with the ARL, but they are labelled that way, redcliffe dolphins may not seem plastic due to them being n the northside of greater brisbane for as long as manly or Parramatta has but reality is, they are not a 1st grade club until this year, so really they are a made up team with no history other the ones we know about from the BRL and QRL, which we don't count, so are they plastic? They are definitely new... they are imitation dolphins, just like the age old dragons question? Are they the same club from 1921, or 1999? Tigers aren't Balmain, so are they the same as the inagural club or are they both newer than the storm who came in 1998 a year before them... are we going off the area/name or the mascot... too many variables..
To be "plastic" is unquantifiable, clubs who have been around for 100 years?, or is the cut off preNRL?
Penrith don’t go to super league they would’ve had to merge

going to super league saved all the Sydney clubs who went

It’s ok sometimes you have to be selfish in life
We were never in doubt... besides all that criteria shit happen WAAAYYYYY after superleague...
Jumping to SL had nothing to do with criteria for the 14 team comp by 2000...

Fresh like 25 years ago... f**k off you loon

Go back to barracking for a logan hillybilly team you potato counting hick

Have you finally figured out that a Cairns-based PNG team will have to travel every week, or are you so slow you still think it will only have to travel fortnightly (like teams from Townsville, Perth, Melbourne and Auckland)?

People on here have routinely discussed the possibility of the Bears using Perth as a back door option to get the 18th licence and return to North Sydney. Similar to what Manly did 20 years ago -- not 25 years like you claimed -- you moron. The fact people remember this means it is fresh in their minds.

Just look at the facts

Sydney clubs who went to super league

dogs sharks panthers

number who survived 3 out of 3

Sydney clubs who weren’t selfish and stayed with the arl

roosters dragons tigers magpies manly bears parra south’s

number who survived 2 out of 8

with Sydney to be rationalised sharks dogs and panthers were all facing the threat of merger or expulsion

Penrith in 98 we’re a basket case

Superleague was 97, doesn't matter anyway, history, besdes manly and souths came back... so it 4 out of 8, then the mergers so kinda add 1.5 more... whats the problem?

Survival of the most disloyal lol

Penrith finally came good 20 years later
Again im not following... are you saying Penrith finally came good after they denounced the evil SL religion they preached, and jumped back to hailing for the ARL again... and now they are winning comps again... you know coz we won in 2003 aswell right... or is it the whole nike jersey thing

Better clubs than Penrith were killed off bc Penrith went to super league (some were fellow sl clubs)

had the dragons or south’s gone to super league they would spared the merge

utimately Penrith came good as a club justifying the decision to keep them but it was wrong in 98

It's history, but also the creation being organic & coming from the community. Afl setting up in gws coz they want in on western Sydney market & will hope to develop fans later is plastic.
