That makes no sense unless your suggesting another Auckland team? If having two teams in the same country/state made a difference then Cowboys and/or Titans would have had the same impact much earlier.
It stopped growth, a growth where the game was popular, but not rich... it was inevitable that the game would out grow just sydney and that we carried 12 teams whilst introducing the rest of the country and NZ, still they say we should shrink sydney further... when its our best asset being so entrenched in this city as the fumblers have Melbourne in theirs, I'll be happy to concede a team move on from sydney, when AFL do the same, but not before, even then it would be pointless, as locations are just labels, and all teams could be cairns or darwin as long they are still the same rosters being bought... yes locations have different advantages, some are better at recruiting than canberra, or Newcastle, but in the end the roster is the team, based wherever... representing whoever, and there is 17 of them
Nor does it make as much money without those other clubs. You see outside of your simple head the NRL is multi faceted and different clubs bring different value to the NRL.
