Net assets are the one that counts buddy

And like Ive shown you afls net assets are over $100mill more than ours.

in a few years theyll have paid off marvel and that net asset gap will triple. But hey ho.

Honestly it’s funny seeing Perth reds head explode

it’s just an internet forum which 20 people are commenting on it’s not going to change anything
If you’re going to spout sht then expect someone to pull you up on it.

Vlanyds built up those net assets on two years

afl has had 20 years where their net asset position has deteriorated

whilst the afl is paying off debts we will be accumulating more assets

go rugby league

I’m not sure you understand how it works lol. You do know they have a $500mill plus asset on their books earning them significant income and that they will have soon paid off?
vlndys has bought a $20mill hotel in his 4 years. Going to take a while at this rate lol

and again more bs Spouted. Afls net asset has steadily grown from $185 mill in 2017 to $230mill in 2020 to $314mill in 2022. You might want to check their annual report before embarrassing yourself further!

You might want to direct that at the person who started this line of conversation!

Here’s a question for the rabid expansionists …

is Perth and Adelaide essential for rugby league to be number one sport

is it possible for rugby league to have a totally different footprint to afl and still be Australia’s biggest sport

Scg members like I told you last time

if in doubt look at the members and ladies stand

all those old codgers showing up for their free tickets and coffee

membership figures are bs best not to use them as a measure of afls popularort
I think you're right about membership numbers being rubbery. The GC Suns have almost twice the amount of members as the Titans but average 5k less in attendance.

Storm Rugby League club, despite the media black-out in Victoria you describe, ~ 30 000 members and averaging 18 000 + at games, I`d say that compares very favourably with the Sydney f-ball clubs, especially as you say what they are up against.
You are in severe danger here of being seen to talk the game down again.
It’s pretty clear members numbers mean sfa these days. Fumbler numbers are particularly rife with BS. Of course he’s talking the game down. He’s full of negative crap.

It’s a publicity stunt. Members numbers are basically crap these days.

Sure thing. Nobody other than you or Perth Red seem to care about the comparison too much.

I only complain about the TV deal we got last time because I think we got shafted. Other than that the game is in an exciting position so long as they make the right decisions.
Games in a great position with multiple options for expansion, genuine game growth in Victoria, growing assets, growing sponsorship and a great product. We got caught on the run with the last tv deal. We won’t make that mistake again.

Mark Geyer addressed our local first grade side over here in the sheds for a Red's Reunion a couple of years ago and discussed these very points.

He said some of his closest bonds in footy came from his time in Perth. He said the boys loved not being under the scrutiny of the Sydney media and had a ball outside of footy together.

He mentioned it was tough for some being away from Family, but the players and partners become their own little family over here.

It can work and it will be attractive for some. This is no different to all the QLD's in Melbourne.

That is the benefit for sure.

of course some will jump at it, enough quality to push for Top 8 though? As opposed to guys going to Perth instead of ESL?

Again not a Perth only problem, PNG and NZ have similar issues but are in RL towns so could develop talent quicker

Isn't it a comparison with AFL that makes you think TV deal was shafted though?

It is looks pretty good, It only doesn't when you compare to the heavily contra figure AFL announced.

$400m a year growing to $470m. Roughly $3b predicted revenue over 5 years is a great financial position.

That will only grow as teams are added. I personally think 3 extra teams by 2031 won't happen but still ambition is good

if nrl has more teams than the afl for the first time since 95 then it’s obvious we get a significantly higher tv deal than anyone else

afl had the advantage of two more teams and way more games until recently

and teams like nz2 or Brisbane 3 will be hugely valuable to sky nz and fox / nein

with the state of the game in nz now nz2 has to come in next imo

As clubs have moved to one game memberships and non ticketed memberships with a free game thrown in cheaper than just buying a ticket for that one game it has made membership numbers a bit silly really. Like participation rates they are rubbery indeed. Having said that its obvious some clubs have much bigger full ticketed memberships than others when you look at attendances and membership revenue.
