Doesn't mean the Dolphins don't have staff on the ground scouting talent at junior RL games on the Sunshine Coast. They're just not affiliated with the Sunshine Coast Falcons.

That's what a Perth-based team will be up against. Talent scouts from the cashed up clubs looking over every junior competition in Queensland and NSW. It's why I've been saying a Perth-based club will need to generate more than $10m from football operations to hire the best recruitment staff in the game. It's what the Storm did with News Ltd's money. Perth will need to spot them and sign them up before other clubs beat them to it.
Lol so club linked jnr regions don’t matter? Just have scouts everywhere? Make your mind up!

Please stop trying to talk up juniors.
Karratha?
Kalgoorlie?
Port Headland?
Broome?
These are in some instances 2 full days drive from Perth with mostly expat communities that if they 1 day in a pure miracle produce 1 player that makes a 30 man roster... its just as likely that they're originally from Cronulla.. seriously.

Let's not forget that those juniors even around Perth within a decent catchment for scouts to be looking, recruiting and developing are also EXPATS! That why they are playing league! And not AFL like all the other born and bred West Australians.

I've lived in Perth, Karratha, Geraldton, Port Headland and Kalgoorlie.
And those Rugby league communities are expats.

So are a recruiting agent for Perth your driving 7 hours to Kalgoorlie, 6 hours to Albany,, another 6 to Bunbury, 2 to Perth, 4 to Geraldton, another 10 to Karratha, another 4 to Headland then 6 to Broome..... then 24 hours back to Perth...
That'll take about 2 months to look at kids ( maybe 2 or 3)that once identified will be expats from Cronulla that didn't make the cut there.
THIS IS LITERALLY YOUR JUNIORS.

That only one of your bs arguments.
All of which have been debunked time and time again.

I'd love to see a Perth team! I really would but enough of the bull shit
Ffs get a clue! The nrlwa clubs will be alerting the pirates to any future prospect’s, WA has set up elite region based teams already at various age groups where the best get extra training and will be watched. We have a RL school scholarship project kids from the country come into perth on. Youve got no idea!

The only Rugby league fans in Perth are expats.. which already follow a team. That community is large- exactly 43,000 that attended the double header.. that's all of them. Most went for the event being the only chance to watch rl for some time, some may have followed one of the teams but the fact they moved away from NRL states means that they didn't think they'd miss out on much ( not BIG fans) and would probably follow a Perth team if it was successful and may attended games but the real numbers that matter is tv and most of those life you said are already watching.

AFL people don't come over to League.
We have over a hundred years of attempts and it simply doesn't happen! The Storm have been successful for nearly 30 years! Have a world class stadium! And I could bet most of their followers are expats from NZ the islands, NSW and QUEENSLAND.
That's a city of 5 million!
Brand new stadium!
Some of the best players ever!
Most successful team for the last 30 years!
How many AFL fans did they convert?
Out of 5 million? 2? 3 thousands?
IT DOESN'T HAPPEN.

Perth will rely on expats.
That number is to the tune of around 50k
5 hour flight for 50k ... that are already watching the game.

Maybe after 30 years we'll convert 2000 people to league if they're winning...
How many millions are we spending for a couple of thousand fans? 200 million? 300 ?
Jesus.

This whole post is just supposition - also from an admitted AFL fan

Facts are the Storm are now in the top 4 clubs for memberships, somewhere in the top half for crowds, probably also overall TV ratings. Definitely lacking in terms of local juniors but things are starting to improve on that front. Need to stop comparing the Storm to AFL clubs in Melbourne and compare them to NRL clubs.

Seriously your posts are full of gross exaggerations.

There are a high percentage of Perth born players in our seniors.

Where do you get 2,000 people in 30 years from? We went from 5,000 to 10,000 registered players back in 90s ... not fans, players. That is what ACTUALLY happened.
Expats.

This is possibly the dumbest thing I've ever heard.
Who's the scout that makes a call on a potential NRL player that's living in Karratha?

The Storm are averaging 16k at Melbourne Rectangular Stadium with a team that finishes in the top 4 on the premiership ladder every year.

What happens when they go on a losing run over a number of years?

Do you think their attendances will remain at 16k?

Will neutrals tune in to watch a Storm team that plays poor football?

Why does Brisbane need a third NRL team?
The Dolphins have clearly demonstrated the that north of Brisbane can strongly support a second Brisbane team.
Over the next 10 years, three of the fastest growing areas in Australia will be the Gold Coast, Logan and Ipswich.
The Logan and Ipswich areas are projected to grow during this 10-year period by approximately 275,000 residents.
We believe the Brisbane Tigers can provide a similar commercial stimulus in the south-west corridor that takes in the Logan and Ipswich regions.
Brisbane Tigers also already have one of the best junior nurseries and pathways in Australia, with affiliated clubs and schools spread across the southside of Brisbane and the Logan – Ipswich corridor.
Legitimate question: do people in Ipswich and Logan associate Brisbane Tigers with their area?

besides if you in Knew anything about wa you’d know 90%of the population lives in perth metro region, we aren’t talking big numbers here lol

I've seen Polynesians in the heart of the city wearing Easts Tigers polo shirts. The Tigers have four clubs in eastern Logan.

The Souths Logan Magpies are now based at Logan Metro Sports Complex in Heritage Park. That's out in the western suburbs. I've never seen anyone out that way wearing Easts Tigers gear.

I'd imagine people from Ipswich identify with the Jets.

There's no coaches living in Karratha.
None that have come close to the NRL or even sniffed the arsehole of one who has. This is community engagement stuff! I've been there, lived there.
Generally there's 1 or 2 from a local club makes it over a lifetime.
I'm from Nerang and over the last 30 years of a's and b's and sometimes c's that play across every age group in a very talented area . 2 have made it. 1 being Reece Walsh and the other I forget his name that played a year below me. That's out of thousands! Thousands. And that's because they have former first graders coaching, they are playing against the best kids.

Karratha.... BAHAHAHAHA

Storm run the risk of losing bandwagon support to the 8 AwFuL clubs that surround it. We don't know how many of their supporters are willing to stay on board when the team is doing it tough. They haven't had a losing season since the early 2000s.

Wtf are you focused on Karratha for! it’s the arse end of nowhere with a massively transient population And only 16k people.
IF and give the numbers playing rugby league up there it’s a big IF a Star is born I’m sure the pirates will have a way of Identifying them Ffs.

Like I said we have carnivals, regional tournaments, jnr regional rep sides etc etc if anywhere regional it will the SW that we will see talent come from, lots of jnr clubs growing down there, but you’d know that if you knew anything about WA RL

There's a drop in the ocean of juniors in WA that it takes to get 1 NRL player.. like that west Australian kid that came through recently.. you know the one.. bug potential? Possible NRL player.. on the squad with?
You know like that other one..

O shit sorry, there isn't ANY.

Here is the team of the tournament from last weekends IMG_2740.jpegCAS titles, WA prop forward Joell Irvine really caught my eye, wonder if any of those VIC players will end up in any of the Bears Rep Squads in 2024.
