1995 again? Perths population has almost doubled since then. 1996 and 1997 were also tumultuous years for League and pushed a lot of people away, many Sydney teams were getting sub 10k crowds.
Further, in 1995 the Reds were 8th(out of 20) in terms of average home crowd, 13th(out of 20) in 96, and 8th (out of 10).

So several other RL teams were lower than them in this period (including Cronulla Penrith, St George, Souths, Roosters, etc.)

So its reasonable to think that in 30 years, there would have been some growth (akin to what those other teams have seen).

So this is cherry picking at its finest. Its almost as stupid as the "ground signage" post.

The Australian Ice Hockey Federation dates back to 1923. That makes it 25 years older than the WARL.

There's 3k ice hockey players in Australia.

Twenty players from the AIHL represented Australia in the IIHF World Championships Division II.

Yes!

The USA vs Canada series sold out venues around the country.

A recent exhibition series between Canadian and American professional players sold out mid-sized to large venues, including a 20,000-spectator turnout in Sydney.

Using your logic the next NHL team should be from Australia!
Haha you’re comparing rugby league to local ice hockey then using one off nhl event games as some sort of comparison along with any kid of logic about australia, not a city, the whole of Australia lol, being in an American professional league? You’re a goose!

I thought your signage comment was the dumbest thing you’ve come out with but you’re really surpassing yourself in this thread lol

Perth red on this thread arguing the arlc should do extra for Perth

yet when it comes to super league expansion clubs get no advantages and have to earn their spot against heartland teams

imagine if Perth had to play north Sydney bears for a right into the nrl

cause London had to beat a team with a population of 80k to earn a promotion shot

you and GROTD get caught up in "what area deserves a team" thinking. Expansion is about growing the sport and if a new market needs a little bit of extra funding, then that's ok. Perth will have its challenges and maybe some negatives but it's probably worth investing in for long term benefits. No one is saying they should have two teams like AFL in Sydney, It won't be a GWS situation. Just one team, and If the NRL can't make 1 team in Perth work then honestly, the competition and sport has got big problems....

Yep, and if we can't afford to expand without pokies.

Then the sports f**ked, and unsustainable also.

Perth's population increase doesn't mean an NRL team will draw more fans in 2027 than in 1997.

Using your logic Perth should have 20k players. It's gone from 10k in 1995 to 4k in 2023.

yeah but NHL is globally famous competition, the biggest ice hockey league in the world. AIHL is so small and unknown most people in Australia wouldn't even know its exists. If You think the NRL has a similar profile to the AIHL in Perth then you are a complete jackass.

You failed to answer the questions I asked.

Here's a video from a Western Australian confirming how much hostility there is in Perth for RL.

One of the lines in the song is "don't give a shit about the NRL".

You're not very smart, are you?

I'm mocking the bullshit arguments you've used to make RL in Perth seem bigger than it is!

You compared the participation rate for RL in Western Australia with Sutherland Shire.

Now you're whinging because I compared a state with a country, despite the fact your compared a small city with an entire state?

You are such a dense hypocrite.

Do you not see the stupidity of comparing a state's participation rate with a small shire?

Of course of you don't.

You haven't disproven my comment about signage. All you've done is dance around it and lied. That's what you do when presented with questions you cannot answer.

Do you know how much the Cowboys generate from signage?

The amount isn't specified in their annual report.

That means you don't how much they make. Ergo, your comparison between Perth and Cowboys is null and void.

If nrl had a promotion system perth would be in by now. Between the consortium and wa govt you think we couldn’t put together a winning team? Lol

So you're anti-meritocracy and believe in affirmative action?

Dumb.

WARL cannot find a consortium to fund a Perth-based team in the Queensland Cup or NSW Cup.

Now you reckon it can beat North Sydney Bears or Brisbane Tigers?

You're delusional.
