He's right though. VLandys need to choose the next three places and start investing in those areas to get them ready
Yeh, I can't read the article, but the headline reads like Skeletors Father is giving V'landys a serve about how poor it's currently planned out.

But @Wb1234 seems to think it's done big endorsement

Gould said the same thing ten years ago! And yet here we are. Strategy, long term planning and rugby league are strange bed fellows

This is why png being based in cairns or Brisbane is a huge win

with bennett on board they will have a huge advantage.
There is a massive chance that if PNG is announced as the NRL’s 18th team that Aust Prime Minister Albanese may not even see his pet project officially run onto the field as the next Aust Federal Election will be in mid 2025.

Was vlandys in power ten years ago ?

what did you expect from Greenberg he was too busy speaking to your mate gill telling him there was room in nsw and qld for both codes
Alas there has been no expansion strategy since 1990! Knee jerk short term thinking has been the nrls approach since it was formed.

Vlandys has been on the commission for 6 years.

There are reasons for that

if you had been living in Australia then you would understand it

this might shock you but news ltd owned half our game for 20 years

they took out a dividend of 150 million at a time the game was bleeding

It's not just about engaging existing RL fans, it's about creating new fans to the game. Those people who have had a taste of Origin or 1 NRL game but aren't engaged in the week to week season, why aren't they engaged? because there is no team in their city to support.

This density argument again? you come up with some confusing and muddled points. Unlike you I have been to Perth numerous times and I have ventured outside of my local neighborhood in Brisbane numerous times. Brisbane is denser than Perth where 90% of the population live, trust me on this. It's a more compact city, more apartment towers and complexes. What this has to do with expansion I don't know...

You live in dream land.

A Perth-based team won't be televised into Perth on FTA 24 times a year. It'll be lucky to get 5 games FTA.

Brisbane's metro population density is 165.6 persons per square km.

Around half of Brisbane's population lives in Moreton Bay, Logan, Ipswich and Redlands.

The population density for Perth metro is 346.7 persons per square km.

Donkey has shown you what adding an expansion team can do in a market with his constant quipping about lions tv audiences. He’s literally making Avery strong argument that adding perth will Increase tv audiences lol

not to mention there is a lot more benefit to code for growing in new markets than just to add some extra tv audience. Afl has proved this with its mammoth media deal and much larger sponsorship portfolio despite smaller tv audiences.

You're speaking shit like usual.

Brisbane is a bigger city with more sports fans watching live sport on TV.

Every Lions match is broadcast live into Brisbane via 7mate.

You're as dumb as dog shit if you think every Pirates game will be broadcast live into Perth via 9Gem. The NRL broadcast deal doesn't allow Ch9 to do it. You'll be lucky to get 5 games a year on 9Gem.

Storm games only get 30k in Melbourne.

Remember when Morrison won the unwinnable Election? Trump became president, then Biden. I wouldn’t be surprised by anything in politics!
Yeh shorten losing was so sweet

even though his policy was to support a png nrl bid

if it makes you happy you and your cohorts should all vote liberal and keep deathriding this bid

buy an albo voodoo doll and stick needles in it

Haha dont back down now mate. You’ve clearly given us all the evidence we need that introducing an expansion club into a new market sees a significant uplift of tv audience. Well done.

Tv doesn’t care, as long total audience is massive. hence why Storm are one of the most valuable teams to the nrl.
Shame Perth can’t play the dolphins every week

just imagine the tv ratings for warriors vs perth
Or raiders vs perth
Cowboys vs perth
Titans vs perth
