And there we have it lol. What a waste of time if all it ends being is moved to brisbane or Sydney where there’s already enough clubs.
The fact the Broncos and Dolphins are the two largest rugby league clubs in the world proves there's room for growth in Brisbane. It's absurd to suggest a Perth-based team that'll be no bigger than Sydney's smallest club should be parachuted in ahead of the Brisbane Tigers.
There's very little benefit to adding a team from Perth.
- Neglible amount of juniors and NRL talent.
- Small fanbase
- Poor TV ratings
- Poor stadium
- Terrible time zone
- Conservative market that's 30 to 40 years behind Brisbane in terms of culture and development
You won't like hearing it, but the gap between Brisbane and Perth is growing wider each year. Brisbane is now a world renowned city attracting an ever increasing amount of interest from tourists and property developers. There's a reason the cost of living in Brisbane is significantly higher than Perth. Everyone wants to live here. Perth lacks the infrastructure and clout.
While Brisbane is hosting the 2032 Olympics, Perth is forced to run a joint bid with Gold Coast for the Commonwealth Games because it lacks the infrastructure and clout to hold them on their own. Gold Coast will get the premium events like swimming, showcasing how far behind Perth is on the social hierarchy.
The best thing our game can do is muscle in on Brisbane and Sydney because they're very lucrative markets. No one gives a f**k about Adelaide and Perth.
