The A League who are pulling 3k to games and the comp is going broke? Where are the likes of GC and Townsville now?

GWS and the suns have been basket cases

Those League sides you mentioned. Outside of the Broncos have been in financial trouble at some stage.

NBL like A League has struggled to get viable teams, Hell someone like the Melbourne Tigers who were huge in the 90's struggle now.

Alot of those example you mentioned came in before the sports were professional, look at the numbers to of failed since say 2000 when the leagues were in most part professional.

They are looking at needing $20m a year on going. You are looking at 20 odd years for that new name to become the norm.

Look at GC Titans still no fans in a RL strong hold
Melbourne Tigers rebranded to Melbourne United. At one stage the Tigers sat out a season in the late 00s.

No. We go to Bathurst every year and the Board wants to play 11 games at home.

That website you went to is good. If you click on the years it has the breakdown of every year used and the crowds.

I like to use the actual home grounds to stop cases when clubs sell off home games.

Dolphins for example have Perth counted in their average
even if you break it down I doubt the Panthers come out on top. Titans have been a bit of a disappointment and yes, their crowd average might be inflated by taking some home games to Suncorp but to say they have no fans is bullshit. Their average attendance since their inception is around the same as most Sydney clubs.

You haven't broken it down enough.

Those GC figures count games hosting Magic round.

Look at the Robina and Carrara figures for GC, In fact any team now. Magic round skewes them.

GC top 6 crowds are at Suncorp including a 'home game' v the Broncos
I crunched the numbers for you. The Titans games at Cbus Stadium last year averaged 17,056 a game.

So whilst it’s a smidge lower than Penrith last year, I think your doom and gloom on the club is bullshit.

Another point of bullshit- when has the Titans ever played a home game vs the Broncos at Suncorp?? I’m a foundation member and have attend every year at Robina for the Broncos….

I asked how many premierships they've won since Menginga retired. You've avoided the question and spoke about everything but the club's lack of success since Menginga's retirement.
what is the point you are even trying to make? you think the QLD contingent are the only reason we won those premierships. Stuart, Daley, Clyde, Lazarus, Furner etc had no influence lol

Are we looking to compare a 1 town team which a side that shares itself with 8 other teams?

I think they are set up better know, I just don't think they go broke IF Burleigh for example were brought up.

are we looking to compare a new "plastic" club to one that is 50 years old? Gold Coast has 600k, not 6 million.

Sorry the pic won't load.

The website @mongoose used. Has 41k as the highest home crowd for GC on 13/4/07 at Lang park ( As the top 6 all are v Broncos )

Gold Coast has 730k population
Penrith has 220k

While some fans do live out of the areas it gives an idea of the potential GC has but has yet to be reached

We are comparing whether or not say a team called the Perth Pirates will do better than say the Perth Jets which has been proposed

The grand final we never had but should have

best two teams in super league too
I remember the Broncos vs Raiders game from 1993. I was chanting "Mal Meninga Smell My Finger". Two blokes in the crowd took their shirts off to fight. No one in the crowd liked Ricky Stuart. When one of the Canberra players made a line break some funny bastard shouted, "Tackle the prick!". It was my first rugby league game and I loved it.

They should be averaging 18k. Let's hope they have some success on the field and nudge their fanbase up towards 20k.

To be fair, the club was averaging 11-12k at Robina a few years earlier. It's good to see them average 17,054 at Robina last year. Let's hope they can maintain that average and nudge it above 18k.

I recall their first game was held at Lang Park. If I recall, it was against the Dragons.

By half? They'd miss out on selling eye patches, pirate hats, maybe a kids pack etc , but the main merch as in jerseys, polos, caps, scarfs would be the same.
The NRL's pre-existing licensing contracts won't allow the club to produce any of that stuff anyway. If the club tries to convince the NRL to pressure their merch partners to produce those products they'll get the same nonsense excuses about cost and fairness the Raiders and others have been getting for decades.

The Raiders have wanted to sell viking helmets and other paraphernalia since the beginning, and could be turning over millions in them annually, but the NRL can't or won't allow it. The way they got around it in the end was to get a sponsor to produce viking helmet beanies to hand out for free at games as a promotional exercise. They must have handed out over 20k of the things by the end, each of which could have been sold for $30. . . It was money gone begging, just like your patches, bandanas, bicorne or tricornes, etc would be.
